Senior Staff Engineer, Laser Module Integration
Location: Hsinchu, Taiwan
Responsibilities
- Lead and drive Co-Packaged Optics (CPO) laser product developments from concept definition through New Product Introduction (NPI), qualification, and eventual mass production.
- Provide comprehensive support for product transfer from the engineering phase to NPI and manufacturing scale-up for high-volume production.
- Collaborate extensively with cross-functional teams, including laser design, optics, packaging, manufacturing, operations, reliability, and test engineering.
- Manage external partners, vendors, and Contract Manufacturers (CMs) across the global supply chain.
- Maintain and manage detailed development schedules, milestones, and deliverables.
- Work directly with manufacturing partners to facilitate process development, yield optimization, and cost reduction initiatives.
- Develop and drive effective thermal management solutions for high-power laser products.
- Possess familiarity with OIF/MSA and IEEE compliance standards.
- Demonstrate the ability to analyze and identify technical challenges within ELSFP/Laser products and provide expert technical guidance to overcome constraints related to thermal performance, power output, optical quality, and laser wavelength stability.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related technical field.
- A minimum of 8 years of professional experience in laser product development, optoelectronics, or photonics.
- A profound understanding of laser diodes, fiber lasers, or solid-state lasers, including associated packaging and reliability methodologies.
- Proven experience in successfully leading and managing complex, cross-functional development programs.
- Demonstrated experience working effectively within the Asian manufacturing ecosystem and with regional suppliers.
- Familiarity and practical experience with datacenter optical interconnect products, including Transceivers, Active Optical Cables (AOC), ELSFP, QSFP, and OSFP.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in semiconductor manufacturing, silicon photonics, or advanced optical interconnect technologies.
- Prior experience in a customer-facing or field application engineering role.
- The ability to travel internationally (20–40%) as required.
