Job Description

We are currently looking for a committed and motivated Postdoctoral Fellow to join the Gender Research Centre (GRC) at the Hong Kong Institute of Asia Pacific Studies. GRC is the first research unit on gender and women's issues in Hong Kong. Beginning as the Gender Research Programme in 1985, GRC was renamed in 2000. Members include scholars from Social Science, Humanities, Medicine, Business Administration, and other interdisciplinary fields who are involved with the research activities of GRC [].

Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in Sociology, Gender Studies, Social Science, Humanities, or related disciplines, or be near completion of their PhD studies (ii) proficiency in quantitative and/or qualitative research methodologies, with a strong track record of conducting independent research (iii) a good command of both written and spoken English and Chinese (iv) strong organisational and communication skills are highly valued and (v) the ability to work effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

The appointee will have the opportunity to contribute to various research projects and activities conducted by the Centre, with a specific focus on advancing knowledge and understanding of gender, sexual and/or intimate violence in cyberspace. He/She will be responsible for (a) assisting in research projects using quantitative, qualitative, or mixed-method approaches (b) working closely with researchers in different places to develop and produce high-quality research papers, reports, news commentaries, and other scholarly outputs (c) managing research projects, which include tasks such as data collection and analysis (d) managing the Centre%27s websites and social media accounts, ensuring that engaging content is created to promote the Centre%27s research findings and activities and (e) providing administrative support to the Centre, which involves organising events, workshops, and conferences, as well as assisting with grant applications and reporting.
