Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Networking EE Architect for Ethernet Switch products to drive electrical design excellence for our Networking products during the early concept phase. This role focuses on developing innovative and scalable electrical design concepts to support new business opportunities (e.g., RFQ, RFI), rather than full NPI or sustaining development. You will collaborate closely with the Taiwan-based Architecture team and US counterparts (e.g., CTO, BU, Marketing) to define technical strategies and requirements for next-generation Networking platforms new business opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical architecture concept work for Networking platforms, including MB placement study, PCB layout, power distribution, and signal integrity.
  • Define electrical design standards and best practices for high-speed signals (100G/200G/400G/800G Ethernet).
  • Use ECAD tools to explore, validate, and optimize design topologies for early-phase evaluation.
  • Co-work with Taiwan Architecture team and US teams (CTO, BU, Marketing) in the concept phase.
  • Support RFQ/RFI by creating early electrical proposals, block diagrams, SI/PI budget, and design justifications.
  • Translate abstract customer needs into viable architecture proposals balancing cost, performance, and scalability.
  • Track trends in Networking ASICs, PHYs, PCB materials, power solutions, and connector technologies.
  • Align switch EE concepts with industry trends such as OCP, SONiC, and IEEE standards.
  • Participate in feasibility studies for differentiating electrical designs and platforms.
  • Provide electrical-level input for architecture trade-offs, connector strategies, and cost-performance analysis.
  • Develop reusable EE design patterns across product lines (e.g., TOR, aggregation, core switches).
  • Define and maintain internal documentation/playbooks for scalable electrical concept development.
  • Work with system, thermal, power, and mechanical architects for holistic design proposals.
  • Define high-level EE specs, support PoC evaluation, and lead electrical aspects of early-phase deliverables.
  • Create proposal packages for RFQ/RFI/POC and document lessons learned.

Technical Skills

  • Strong background in high-speed signal design (SerDes, PAM4, differential pairs, SI/PI).
  • ECAD proficiency (e.g., Cadence, Mentor) for schematic/layout review and concept exploration.
  • Familiarity with Networking SoCs (Broadcom, Marvell), interfaces (QSFP-DD/OSFP, PCIe, I2C/MDIO), and power systems.
  • Understanding of thermal/power constraints and PCB stack-up for 56G/112G signal integrity.

Desired Traits & Skills

  • Self-Driven & Independent
  • Innovative and solution-oriented thinking
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting capabilities
  • Strong leadership and technical communication skills
  • Comfortable working in fast-paced, cross-functional, global teams
  • Familiarity with networking system-level architecture
  • Capable of NRE estimation and abstract requirement hardening

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical or Electronics Engineering (Master's preferred)
  • 15+ years in networking product EE design
  • Fluent in English, strong communication and cross-site coordination skills
