Embedded Software Engineer
[Embedded Software Engineer - BSP/Kernel | Reality Labs]
This is the VROS BSP Scale team focusing on super scale VR headset and OEM headsets development. One current product we're supporting from low level stack incl. bootloader, device tree, kernel config, kernel driver and HAL, etc. We also own device security and provision device side implementation. We work closely with SoC/component vendors, HW, manufacturer engineering, infra, security, operations etc. The key success criteria of the team is to enable our customers - other SW, XFN teams to develop application level features smoothly.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement components at all layers of the system, e.g. kernel, synchronization primitives, resource allocators, memory management, security, I/O systems, persistence, etc.
- Design and implement drivers and services that operate efficiently in a constrained environment yet when pressed can efficiently deliver large volumes of data with low latency and high-bandwidth.
- Own the definition of one or more work streams focused on HW bring-up, peripheral drivers & communication, silicon integration, power and performance management & optimization.
- Debug complex, system-level, multi-component issues that typically span across multiple layers from kernel to application.
- Profile performance problems and drive optimizations that span the entire SW stack.
- Bring-up new devices and lead debugging and performance tuning exercises that span multiple HW/FW/SW teams.
- Understand SW components from multiple partner teams, lead the integration of those components into the unified product code base, and drive their continued development.
Min. Qualifications
- B.S. or MSc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 6+ yrs SW Engineering exp. in the following: device driver development, embedded systems (ES), or operating systems (OS). Solid understanding of ES & Android architecture is a MUST.
- 6+ yrs exp. working on systems SW in a large-scale C/C++ code base. Strong Embedded C/C++ development and RTOS-based systems, and working exp. w/ Android Open Source Project (AOSP), Android Studio is a MUST.
- 2+ yrs exp. defining and driving technical work streams and providing technical leadership for SW engineering teams.
- Solid exp. w/ Board Support Package (BSP), and Performance tuning is a MUST.
- Hands-on exp. in HW bring-up using interfaces like ADC, GPIO, SPI, I2C, and System-level debugging, and ability to Read schematics and work closely w/ HW teams is a MUST.
- Hands-on exp. in one or more of the following areas is a MUST: BSP, OS, Android OS, RTOS, Bootloader, Power Management, Linux, Graphics & Display Drivers, MCU (Microcontroller).
- Exp. w/ SW Development processes incl.: source control, bug tracking, and design documentation.
- Exp. developing, debugging, and shipping SW products on large code bases that span platforms and tools.
- Proficiency in English. TOEIC: >600
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep specialized exp. in two or more of the following areas is a MUST: BSP, OS, CoreOS, Kernel, Android Kernel, Bootloader, Power Mgmt., RTOS, Linux, Graphics & Display Drivers, MCU.
- Demonstrated exp. working collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
- Bilingual capability is required (Mandarin & English). Mandarin speaking/reading is an essential skill in HCLTech Taiwan.
- Taiwan APRC is required w/ expat.
