Job Description

To maintain and improve existing Rooms Revenue Management processes and strive to achieve significant and sustained revenue growth. Making decisions regarding Rooms pricing & inventory controls on a daily basis for a minimum future 12 months.

The Role

  • Revenue management by maintaining accuracy and overseeing the distribution strategy of the hotel and manage day-to-day yield operations.
  • Setting Pricing Strategies to determine and set competitive room rates to stay in the limelight and earn higher revenue.
  • Monitoring competitor performance; Effective yield management; Initiating promotions to generate business at key times.
  • Optimize and expand distribution partnerships and yield management through Third Party Internet (TPI) / Online Travel Agent (OTA) website and own Global distribution System (GDS).
  • Understand the Sales/Reservation flow and various booking channels, which would be key to correlating to area of performance management (Revenue generating and performance reporting).
  • Maximize room revenue through both average room rate and occupancy percentage through efficient Revenue Management processes.
  • Maintain all pricing within Opera PMS and third-party distribution channels.
  • Ensure that price parity is maintained through all third-party distribution channels.
  • Ensure correct rate positioning is achieved across all market segments for rooms.
  • Compile and communicate clear and concise pricing policies for all current pricing and packages.
  • Stay updated with market trend and new revenue tools and or software applicable for serviced suites to improve seamless connectivity with partners.
  • Submit RFP for Travel Consortia. Support Sales in Corporate Rates Loading.
  • To conduct regular audits to ensure that all channels of distribution are managed in accordance with strategies and guidelines.
  • To prepare analysis and reports on rate and inventory management and strategy effectiveness on all on-line sales strategies; including scheduled and ad-hoc reports.
  • Recognise and correct any rate parity issues with internet booking sources and Best Rate Guarantee claims.
  • To propel key market strategies by identifying opportunities for incremental revenue through analyses, supporting tactics to include the establishment of differential pricing based on market segments, demand, positioning, etc.
  • To ensure competitive research and market intelligence through to the setup of a system of competitive price shopping, continuous monitoring of competitor performance, strategies, demand, supply etc.
  • To ensure that all channels of distribution - l.e, direct sales, GDS, and the internet - are fully optimized without any conflict in distribution, representation and positioning.
  • To ensure the hotels data set on CRS, GDS, PMS, S&C System and RMS remains current and correct.
  • To direct reservations by training pertinent departments on revenue management techniques and its execution, managing reservations goals, and providing daily/weekly selling guidelines/strategies for agents and pertinent accounts,
  • To drive revenue management culture throughout the hotels, by educating hotels staff on Revenue Management concepts and techniques (overselling. pricing, upselling, etc).
  • To assist the Director of Sales & Marketing in review of monthly forecast, reporting and annual sales budget for senior management approval.
  • To assist the Director of Sales & Marketing in exercising all reasonable care in safeguarding the hotels and the hotel's propriety information.
  • To aid in the department's administrative tasks and ad-hoc project processes.

Talent Profile

  • Possess a full understanding of the principles of forecasting and analysis.
  • Be well versed in creating and using Excel spreadsheets with complex formulae.
  • Certified in the use of all systems- property management, reservations & sales & catering, and any other related systems and have an ability to quickly learn and utilise these systems.
  • Experience in the operations field in some capacity.
  • Strong experience or adaptable training in the use of automated systems, and software programs.
  • Possess an ability to effectively and professionally communicate at all levels of the hotel.
  • Have a creative & innovative approach to revenue maximisation and the ability to educate others in Revenue Management and maximisation techniques.
  • Demonstrate an ability to implement the Absolute Care Revenue Management System.
  • Diploma or Degree from a recognized hospitality / tertiary institution and/or have gained 2 years of distributions/reservations experience the hotel industry.
