We are seeking a visionary and technically formidable Vice President BU Head, Motor & Robotics Business for a leading ODM/EMS company. This is a newly created position for the future expansions, reporting directly to the CEO. The ideal candidate possesses a deep-rooted pedigree in mechanical engineeringspecifically within high-performance motion controland has successfully transitioned from the lab to the boardroom. You will own the P&L, drive the product roadmap, and lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver the critical parts for tomorrow's robots.
Responsibilities
- Establish the New Business Unit that focuses on designing and developing the critical components for Robotics (such as Motors and High-Precision Planetary Gearboxes). Provide engineering & operational leadership, including product roadmap, strategic planning, resources allocation, budgeting, forecasting, etc.
- Product Lifecycle Ownership: Oversee the entire lifecycle of robotics components, with a specialized focus on the commercialization of high-torque density motors and high-precision planetary gearboxes.
- R&D Oversight: Direct the engineering teams in solving complex challenges related to backlash minimization, thermal management, and power-to-weight ratios in electromechanical actuators.
- Operational Excellence: Manage the BU's P&L, ensuring healthy margins while maintaining aggressive investment in disruptive R&D.
- Partnership & Ecosystem Building: Identify and negotiate strategic partnerships with CMOS sensor providers, AI software firms, and Tier-1 manufacturing partners.
Qualifications
- 15+ Years of Experience: A proven track record in R&D/Engineering, Product Management, or General Management leadership roles within the robotics or high-precision sectors.
- Deep Domain Expertise: Significant experience in the design, testing, and scaling of Motors (BLDC/Frameless) and High-Precision Planetary Gearboxes (specifically dealing with <3 arc-min backlash requirements).
- Systems Thinking: Ability to integrate mechanical hardware with sophisticated control theory and embedded software.
- Business Acumen: Demonstrated success in taking a deep-tech concept through the Stage-Gate process to a successful commercial launch.
- Market Intelligence: Ability to translate complex technical specifications into value propositions for diverse stakeholders.
- Education: Master's or PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Robotics.
