Job Summary
This position is responsible for conducting presales feasibility studies, customer presentations, trade show setup, training, and onsite postsales support/installation. The Technical Engineer determines the right combination of Cognex vision or sensor hardware, lighting, optics, and programming for an optimal solution that fits within the customer's defined budget.
The Technical Support team provides technical expertise and supports the sales organization in selling Cognex Vision and Sensor products to help sales exceed their quota.
Essential Functions
- Provides application feasibilities and fast tracks as necessary.
- Conducts demonstrations and online trials of products at customer sites, trade shows, seminars, and events.
- Troubleshoots issues at customer sites and provides resolutions to problems.
- Completes evaluation reports in a timely and complete manner while recommending a solution that fits within the application constraints.
- Provides expertise in integrating Cognex products with devices such as PLCs, PCs, or controllers.
- Develops a broad technical knowledge of Cognex's vision and sensor product families.
- Provides customer and sales engineer training when required.
- Provides product feedback to the Technical Support Manager and Product Business Units to improve products.
- Provides sales intelligence to the sales team when communicating with or visiting customers to help Cognex win.
- Maintains and continuously updates project information in SalesBook.

Minimum Education and Work Experience Required
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical / Electronics / Instrumentation / Communication with 70% average or equivalent
- Master's degree in Computer Science / Instrumentation / Electronics / Communication with no backlogs
- Programming knowledge in C# / .NET / Java is an added advantage
- Machine Vision / Robotics / AI / Deep Learning knowledge is an added advantage
- Should be comfortable working in a factory environment
- 3+ years of relevant experience in technical support or related areas
