Job Summary:

The R&D Extension Systems Engineer serves as a critical on-site liaison between the Process Diagnostic & Control(PDC) and the customer, ensuring seamless collaboration, technical support, and innovation. This role is designed to provide deep technical expertise and immediate response to customer needs, while also contributing to long-term R&D initiatives. The engineer will support day-to-day fab operations, troubleshoot complex system issues, and drive development of future technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Support & Collaboration (Primary Focus):

  • Act as the on-site R&D representative, providing expert-level support for PDC tools including Navigation, TPT, Scan, Detection, Algorithms, and Electron Optics.
  • Resolve customer tool issues in short loops to maintain optimal fab automation and flow.
  • Perform fault isolation tests and collect data for unresolved issues, ensuring clear problem statements and escalation paths.
  • Lead customer-facing technical discussions, presentations, and issue resolution.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships with customer teams to identify high-value problems and improvement opportunities.

R&D and System Engineering (Secondary Focus):

  • Support new product development by collecting and analyzing fab data in collaboration with PDC engineers across disciplines.
  • Ensure subsystem designs meet Market Requirement Specifications (MRS) through close coordination with marketing and project management.
  • Lead architecture brainstorming sessions and guide systems engineering processes.
  • Conduct detailed engineering analyses and evaluate alternative design approaches.
  • Support system integration, testing, and reliability validation during product development.
  • Contribute to cross-disciplinary projects involving electrical, mechanical, physics, algorithmic, and software design.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Physics, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2 years of experience in semiconductor equipment or process engineering is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of system-level design and operation of semiconductor tools.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB or Python for data analysis and engineering tasks.
  • Proven ability to conduct failure analysis using Design of Experiments (DOE).
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently on-site and collaborate effectively with remote teams.
