What to Expect
We are seeking an experienced Strategic Sourcing Manager to lead strategic sourcing for interconnect commodities, including high-speed data connectors and related electromechanical components in a fast-paced manufacturing and technology environment.
The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of strategic sourcing experience in electronics/electromechanical commodities and excels at collaborating with engineering teams to understand technical requirements, building strong supplier relationships, performing detailed cost modeling, and negotiating favorable purchase agreements that deliver value and mitigate risk.
Additionally, this role requires strong operational acumen, including clear-to-build (CTB) management and shortage resolution, ensuring material availability aligns with aggressive production targets.
We'd prefer candidates who have familiarity with manufacturing methods used to scale electromechanical components, with knowledge of wiring harnesses, connectors, and PCBA.
What You'll Do
Lead strategic sourcing initiatives for electronics and electromechanical componentsPartner closely with engineering and cross-functional teams to deeply understand technical requirements and translate them into effective sourcing strategiesDevelop and maintain strong supplier relationships, including performance management and continuous improvement programsConduct detailed cost modeling and analysis to identify savings opportunities and support fact-based negotiationsNegotiate and manage purchase agreements, supply contracts, and long-term pricing arrangementsIdentify and qualify new suppliers while maintaining a robust and resilient supply baseDrive clear-to-build (CTB) readiness by ensuring material availability, aligning supply plans with production requirements, and proactively mitigating supply risksLead end-to-end shortage resolution, including root cause identification, supplier recovery planning, allocation management, and cross-functional escalation to protect production continuity
What You'll Bring
Proven experience in procurement or strategic sourcing, specifically with electronics and electromechanical components in a manufacturing or technology environmentDemonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with engineering teams to understand technical requirements and establish effective sourcing strategiesStrong experience managing supplier relationships and driving supplier performanceSolid background in cost modeling and financial analysisExcellent negotiation skills with a track record of successfully negotiating purchase agreements and contractsDemonstrated experience managing material shortages and driving recovery plans in a high-volume manufacturing environmentStrong understanding of clear-to-build (CTB) processes, supply-demand alignment, and production readiness metricsCandidates are expected to uphold and actively promote sustainability principles in their daily work, operating in line with Tesla Global Environmental, Health, Safety & Security (EHS&S) Policy and EMAS requirements, fostering a culture of continuous environmental improvement.
