Sr. Staff Product Engineer - Silicon Photonics - Optical Engine
Location: Hsinchu City, Taiwan (on-site)
Product engineering is a key role in delivering high quality connectivity products to the market. As a product engineer, you will be responsible for 1) defining and writing test programs for photonic integrated circuits and optical engines, 2) own the definition and development of manufacturing flows and test content optimized for quality and cost, 3) collaborating with design and firmware/controls teams on DFx features, and 4) analyzing production data to identify problems and drive cross-functional resources to solutions. You will be partnering with fab, design, packaging, validation, and manufacturing teams to deliver best-in-class connectivity products to the market.
Key Responsibilities
- Write the test programs and own the success of the test insertions in the manufacturing flow
- Define the requirements specs for test hardware (probe card and loadboard) to enable desired test content/coverage
- Define manufacturing strategy and test flow to achieve product health indicators
- Collaborate with design and firmware teams to implement DFT features to achieve desired test coverage
- Drive test time reduction and test socket elimination to achieve cost goals
- Drive DPM reduction through test hole closure
- Drive yield up by identifying root cause of failures and working with design, fab, and packaging to address gaps
Basic Qualifications
- Advanced degree (MS) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field
- 3+ years of experience with PIC/SiPh product development and test
- 6+ years of experience in industry as a product development engineer
- Experience with developing test programs and specifying test hardware for optical communications products
- Possess a deep understanding of photonic device theory of operation and photonics fab processes which can be leveraged to understand the implications of photonic test data for the product health
- Experience working with fab and OSAT to drive yield and quality agenda for photonics products
- Excellent communication skills with ability to present complex technical information clearly and concisely
Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced degree (PhD) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field
- Experience establishing end-to-end manufacturing flow/strategy for photonic integrated circuits
- Experience developing test programs for optical IO products on industry standard platforms (ATE)
- Demonstrated ability to influence senior company leadership and customers
- Explore photonic simulation environments (Python, MATLAB, Verilog) set up by other teams to anticipate design marginalities and discrepant behaviors before silicon exits the fab.
