Sr. Sourcing Engineer
Molex is seeking a Sourcing Specialist to join our New Product Development Sourcing Team for the DataCom & Specialty Solutions (DSS) division. This role will support the sourcing activities for the assigned product development projects across different business units in DSS. During the project(s) development you will work with Global and Regional Category Management teams to execute sourcing and supplier strategies. The role will provide you the opportunity to build up the knowledge of the world-class procurement organization and set for the path to outstanding procurement professionals.
This role will be in Taipei, Taiwan (Hybrid).
Our Team
Our team: The New Product Development Sourcing teams in DataCom & Specialty Solutions (DSS) division, Global and Regional Category Management teams, SQE etc., external suppliers and subcontractors etc.
Project stakeholders: Product Development Engineering team, PM, MIE and Quality etc. from BU and Operation teams at multiple-locations.
What You Will Do (Job Description)
- Lead price negotiations and cost reduction initiatives through value engineering and should-cost analysis to achieve cost target on margin optimization.
- New product supplier identification, sourcing, selection and contracting for the DSS division
- Bring Design to Value (Manufacturing, Quality, Cost, etc.) viewpoint to Product design teams
- Lead the cost negotiate to achieve cost target on margin optimization.
- Conduct should-cost and make vs. buy analyses to support sourcing decision
- Apply appropriate category strategies in line with preferred suppliers (Metals, Plastics, Electronics, and Outsourcing etc.) to new product sourcing needs
- Proactive supply risk management in the new product development process and initial volume phase.
- Monitor sourcing and procurement innovation trends in the marketplace
- Assist Division Supply Base Management team aligned with team's goal and strategy.
- May require business travel domestic and international up to 15%.
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
- Bachelor's degree or 10+ years of experience working in IT industry and 7+ years experience in procurement, material planning, production planning, or supply chain management.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English required.
- Strong management and leadership skills with the ability to motivate and drive accountability
- Clear and concise verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact at all levels within the organization as well as deliver oral presentations on moderately complex subject matter
- Demonstrated experience driving cross functional collaboration across business units and geographies
- Familiar with cost breakdown analysis, should cost modeling and total cost of ownership analysis.
What Will Put You Ahead
- Sourcing experience for Cable, connector or liquid cool products
- Experience working with global/local suppliers and contract manufacturers.
- Develop cost model and VA/VE experience for mechanical or cable/connector products
- Fluent in English and Mandarin and be able to present in English.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP) and sourcing tools
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional, and global environment.
