Established in 1987 and headquartered in Taiwan, TSMC pioneered the pure-play foundry business model with an exclusive focus on manufacturing its customers products. Job Responsibilities:

Position Overview:

Sr. Patent Litigation Attorney focuses on managing complex patent litigation cases, providing in-depth legal and technical expertise, and driving litigation strategy while working under the strategic direction of the Patent Litigation Department Head and Chief IP Counsel. Your role will involve hands-on management of litigation matters, collaborating with external counsel, conducting detailed factual investigation and performing critical analyses, and supporting the department's overarching legal strategies and goals. With extensive experience in patent litigation and a solid understanding of the semiconductor industry, the position requires exceptional analytical and writing skills, technical proficiency, and an open mindset to resolve disputes effectively and protect the company's intellectual property assets.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Manage patent litigation cases by dictating litigation strategy, performing claim construction, non-infringement, invalidity analysis, preparing IPRs, directing discovery and depositions, and other technical/legal evaluations.

2. Draft and review legal documents, including litigation briefs, invalidity petitions, and motions, expert reports, ensuring technical and legal accuracy, and persuasiveness.

3. Work closely with the Patent Litigation Department Head to align case strategies with broader organizational goals.

4. Act as the primary liaison with external counsel to oversee case progress and provide daily technical/legal input.

5. Collaborate with customers, vendors, and other semiconductor companies on IP initiatives.

6. Understanding semiconductor patent and litigation landscape to risks/opportunities.

7. Provide training and leadership to junior litigators and paralegals.

8. Support cross-functional teams with litigation-related insights and technical guidance.

Job Qualifications:

1. Licensed U.S. attorney with 8-12 years of experience in high stakes patent litigation; semiconductor industry expertise preferred.

2. Proven ability to successfully handle complex patent disputes, including claim construction, invalidity, and infringement analyses.

3. Technical background in Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, Chemical Engineering or a related field is preferred.

4. Fluent in English with strong oral and written communication skills for internal reporting and drafting legal documents, and for collaborating with diverse teams and customers, vendors, law firms.

5. Self-motivated and detail-oriented professional, capable of managing multiple cases and working under pressure.

6. Team leader who succeeds in a collaborative environment and works effectively with leadership, and peers, and junior team members.
