Job Summary
The Sr. NPI Engineer at Lantronix, Inc. will lead new product introduction (NPI) and sustaining engineering activities, ensuring products are designed and built for quality, scalability, and cost efficiency. This role partners with cross-functional teams and contract manufacturers to improve production processes, resolve quality issues, and drive continuous improvement across the product lifecycle.
Job Responsibilities
- Lead new product introduction (NPI) and sustaining engineering activities at board and system level.
- Drive Design for Manufacturing (DFM) reviews to ensure robust, scalable, and cost-effective production.
- Evaluate design or process changes that elevate efficiency, quality, and performance.
- Partner with Component Engineering, Supply Chain, and Hardware teams to influence component selection and mitigate manufacturing risk early in the design cycle.
- Work directly with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) and ODMs to close capability gaps, improve yield, and quality issue.
- Review and influence Process FMEA and Design FMEA, providing diagnostics input.
- Use data to drive Systemic Root Cause and Corrective Action. Identify, expedite and / or escalate any quality or performance issues
- Develop, release, and maintain product documentation across the lifecycle.
- Preparation of Control documents/work instructions and provide technical support to production departments when necessary.
- Prepare clear operational and status reports related to production.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Manufacturing Engineering (or a related field)..
- 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, product, or electrical engineering, preferably in an NPI or sustaining environment.
- Experience with DFM/DFX, process improvement, and production support in an electronics or hardware manufacturing setting.
Qualification & Skills
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field with 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, product, or electrical engineering
- Strong knowledge of system hardware architectures and PCB fabrication/assembly processes.
- Working knowledge of manufacturing techniques, tooling, and equipment.
- Experience with DFX/DFM, yield assessment, and board-level debug.
- Can lead / participate in process FMEA development, design review and risk mitigation processes - Understands the principles of 6 Sigma, Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing
- Proven ability to work across NPI and sustaining environments, from proto bring-up to ramp.
