About BBPOS

BBPOS is one of the world leaders in payment devices and the inventors of mPOS technology. BBPOS products are used by large retailers and leading online platforms across multiple industries. BBPOS is engaged in the business of manufacturing and supplying mobile and smart point-of-sale hardware, and the underlying software and infrastructure to deploy, manage, and monitor those devices. BBPOS is now part of Stripes Terminal business since the acquisition in March 2022.

About Stripe Terminal

Post acquisition, the BBPOS team is now an extension of the Stripe Terminal team. Stripe Terminal helps Stripe users extend their online presence into the physical world. The Terminal teams mission is to make it as easy for businesses to accept in-person payments. With Terminal, businesses can unlock in-person payments use cases that are right for their business modelwhether its creating a flagship retail experience, extending their website to a pop-up store, or enabling a mobile point-of-sale at their next event.

About the team

The Developer Productivity team is responsible for empowering BBPOS and Stripe Terminal engineers to ship to our users productively. We work on tools, processes, frameworks to accelerate engineers across multiple teams. Our team is key to supporting Stripes in-person payment products to help increase the GDP of the internet.

What you will do

• Build tools and libraries that improve developer productivity for engineers at BBPOS and Stripe Terminal by understanding their needs and coming up with both short term and long term solutions.
• Work with a team of technically sophisticated engineers who make developer experience their first priority.
• Build and deploy tooling across software stack including Firmware, Android Apps and Mobile SDKs, especially build, continuous integration and test automation infrastructure.
• Work with stakeholders across BBPOS and Stripe Terminal to balance and accommodate competing desires.
• Interact with global engineering teams and provide them capabilities to build and ship software with speed and reliability.
• Routinely perform code reviews to ensure high quality designs and implementation.

Who you are

We are looking for software engineers with an interest in building tools and frameworks for engineers. The ideal candidate will have a mix of technical expertise in building tooling and infrastructure for builds, releases, automated testing; a passion for solving developer productivity problems, and a pragmatic approach to iterative problem solving.

Minimum requirements

• Bachelor Degree or above in Computer Engineering/Science or related discipline.
• 4+ years of professional, full-time software development experience.
• Strong problem solver and able to take initiatives in solving problems.
• Experience writing high quality code in a major programming language, preferably Kotlin, Java or Golang.
• The ability to thrive in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts.

Preferred qualifications

• Proficiency in Kotlin, Java or Golang
• Experience building tools to improve developer productivity, and empathy for the end users.
• Experience in CI/CD tooling (e.g. Jenkins, GitLab CI, Github Actions)
• Experience in building automated testing infrastructure
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well in a collaborative environment
