Application are invited for appointment as Senior Manager (at the rank of Administrative Assistant I) in the Faculty of Engineering (Ref: 533295), to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.
The Faculty of Engineering manages a diverse range of faculty-led initiatives collectively known as the innovation cluster, which is dedicated to advancing research and innovation development. This cluster includes venues and facilities such as the Innovation Wing One & Two and the Research Student Center events and programs organized by the Innovation Academy and The Edge and curricular initiatives, including active learning and AI Literacy II courses within the Engineering program.
Applicants should possess a good Bachelor's degree and at least 8 years of solid administrative experience at a supervisory level, preferably in higher education or a related sector. They must have an excellent command of English and Chinese (including Putonghua), strong organizational and problem-solving skills, as well as a positive attitude, open-mindedness, and effective communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to work independently with initiative is also essential. In addition to being versatile in administration and project management, applicants should demonstrate strong leadership qualities, as they will be responsible for leading a team of staff in administration, facility management, and operations.
The appointee will support the Assistant Dean (Teaching and Learning - UG) in operating and overseeing the innovation cluster. Primary responsibilities include managing various administrative functions, such as strategic planning and implementation, event organization and promotion, venue operations and space utilization, and curriculum development with a focus on active learning and AI literacy. The appointee will collaborate with a wide range of partners and stakeholders, including funders, government departments, professional bodies, industry partners, researchers, technology professionals, and visitors. Additional duties may be assigned as required.
The position may involve working outside regular office hours. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to participate in a written test and an interview.
A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
