Senior Analytical Chemist
The Senior Analytical Chemist position is an on-site role located in Kaohsiung, Taiwan. Occasional travel (10%) may be required to meet business needs.
We are seeking a Senior Analytical Chemist to join our Specialty Gas Global Analytical Technology team at our Kaohsiung, Taiwan site. In this role, you will implement and maintain in-line analytical systems at our Specialty Gas facilities. This role requires close collaboration with Operations, Quality, Engineering, Process Safety, and external vendors/contractors to ensure the smooth operation of automated analytical systems in Specialty Gas production facilities. The position will be located at the Jade Park site in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, while also supporting additional production sites in Taiwan and Malaysia. Strong communication skills and the ability to thrive in a multi-regional, multi-cultural environment across various time zones are essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide advanced troubleshooting support for in-line analytical instrumentation at manufacturing sites in Taiwan and external supplier sites in Malaysia to ensure stable plant operations.
- Develop and validate analytical methods using GC, FTIR, CRDS and/or ICP-MS to meet customer specifications.
- Participate in quality and business support investigations by designing experiments and producing customer facing documents.
- Support the design, fabrication, implementation, and commissioning of new automated analytical systems.
- Utilize best safety practices and promote a culture of safety within the laboratory.
- Occasional travel (10%) may be required.
Basic Qualifications
B.S. in analytical chemistry, chemical engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline.
AND
2+ years of experience with any of the following techniques: GC (Gas Chromatography), FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy), and/or ICP-MS (Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometry).
Preferred Qualifications
- M.S. in chemistry or chemical engineering (or related field) with 5+ years of experience with GC, FTIR, and/or ICP-MS.
- Experience with the design and setup of in-line analytical systems and methods.
- Experience handling and analyzing reactive, corrosive, and/or toxic gases.
- Demonstrated ability to utilize GC, FTIR, CRDS (Cavity Ring-Down Spectroscopy), and/or ICP-MS to solve complex problems.
- Experience in developing and validating analytical methods.
- Strong understanding of analytical chemistry concepts and instrumentation.
- Knowledge of statistical design of experiments, gauge R&R studies, and statistical software packages (e.g., JMP, Minitab).
- Creative self-starter with initiative to tackle problems.
- Demonstrated ability to establish trustful relationships with colleagues.
- Effective presentation and technical writing skills.
- Experience preparing technical, customer-facing documents.
- Strong verbal and communication skills and ability to successfully collaborate in a global matrix organization.
- Willingness to work across time zones.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a diverse team.
