The Lee Hysan Clinical Research Laboratories (CRL) is launching a new revenue-generating Omics Core in 2026 offering fee-for-service Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) and Proteomics/Protein Analysis services. We are seeking an outstanding, award-winning postdoctoral scientist to establish and lead this strategic core facility.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) building and managing the daily operation of the CRL Omics Core (Illumina benchtop NGS + proteomics platforms) (b) delivering end-to-end services including DNA/RNA extraction, library preparation (16S, RNA-Seq, WES/WGS), NGS sequencing, LC-MS/MS-based proteomics (label-free, TMT, PRM), intact protein analysis, and post-translational modification analysis (c) performing primary bioinformatics and biostatistics analysis (NGS + MaxQuant/Proteome Discoverer) (d) advising users on experimental design, grant applications, and manuscript preparation (e) developing SOPs, pricing strategy, online booking and LIMS system, and revenue targets (f) actively promoting the service across CUHK, hospital clusters, and external users and collaborators and (g) training users and supervising junior technical staff.
Applicants should have/be (i) a PhD in Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Bioinformatics, or related disciplines (ii) holder of prestigious competitive postdoctoral awards (e.g., RGC Postdoctoral Fellowship, Croucher Foundation Fellowship, NSFC Excellent Young Scientist Fund (Hong Kong & Macau), or equivalent) (iii) at least 1 year's post-qualification work experience, preferably hands-on experience in both NGS and modern proteomics (iv) first-author publications in high-impact journals (e.g., Nature series, or journals with IF larger than 12, etc.) demonstrating expertise in omics technologies (v) proven ability to operate as an independent PI-level researcher and secure competitive funding (vi) prior experience in core facility management or commercial service lab is a strong advantage (vii) excellent command of written and spoken English(Cantonese/Mandarin is an asset) and (viii) demonstrated leadership, business acumen, and the ability to meet aggressive revenue targets.
Appointment will initially be made on a 2-year contract with contract-end gratuity, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a public research university in Shatin, Hong Kong, formally established in 1963 by a charter granted by the Legislative Council of Hong Kong.
