Job Description
The Faculty of Law invites applications for the position of Research Officer (at the rank of Research Associate) to support various research activities of the Faculty.
Reporting to the Centre Directors, the appointee will play a key role in supporting the Centres%27 strategic development, research activities, external engagement, and day-to-day administration.
Applicants should have (i) a Master's degree in Law or a related discipline with at least four years of relevant post-qualifications experience in research administration, project management, higher education administration, policy research or a related field or a PhD in Law or a related discipline (ii) demonstrated experience in coordinating research projects, academic conferences, seminars, workshops, public lectures and managing multiple stakeholders (iii) excellent organisational and project management skills, with strong attention to detail (iv) strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Chinese (v) experience in grant administration, budget monitoring and event management (vi) a proven ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team and (vii) familiarity with legal research, public policy issues, or the higher education sector will be an advantage.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) supporting the Directors in the strategic development and operation of the Centres (b) facilitating and coordinating research projects, grant applications and externally funded initiatives (c) monitoring project milestones, budgets and reporting requirements for research grants and contracts (d) organising academic conferences, seminars, workshops, public lectures and outreach activities (e) developing and maintaining partnerships with universities, government agencies, professional bodies, NGOs and industry stakeholders (f) assisting in preparing research reports, policy papers, funding proposals and annual reports (g) managing the Centres%27 communications, including website content, social media, newsletters and publicity materials (h) coordinating visits by scholars, delegations and external stakeholders (i) ensuring compliance with University policies and procedures relating to finance, procurement, research governance and data management and (j) performing other duties as assigned by the Director or Faculty.
