The Department of Finance at CUHK Business School is recruiting a Research Assistant to help with financial and microeconomic theory-related research. This position is ideal for students who plan to apply for doctoral programs or wish to gain in-depth research experience.
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor%27s degree from a recognised university, or be at least a final-year undergraduate student, preferably from Economics, Finance, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related discipline (ii) a solid foundation in economics and econometrics with independent thinking and research abilities (iii) proficiency in at least one data analysis tool (Python, Stata, or Matlab). The ideal candidate will be diligent, responsible, with good communication skills and time management abilities. Those who plan to pursue a PhD will be given priority.
The appointee will be responsible for (a) participating in literature reviews (b) handling data cleaning, analysis, and visualisation (using Python, Stata, etc.) (c) assisting with theoretical model derivation and numerical simulation (mathematical modeling skills or proficiency with Matlab preferred) and (d) supporting paper writing, editing, and formatting.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year commencing in the summer of 2026, renewable subject to mutual agreement.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a public research university in Shatin, Hong Kong, formally established in 1963 by a charter granted by the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. It is the territory's second-oldest university and was founded as a federation of three existing colleges – Chung Chi College, New Asia College and United College – the oldest of which was founded in 1949.
