The Department of Paediatrics is seeking a Junior Research Assistant or Research Assistant to support several ongoing projects in the areas of paediatric practices, bioethics, and public education. This position is ideal for individuals with a background in social sciences, language, education, humanities, nursing, public health, or related healthcare fields who are passionate about medical education and clinical research.
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Education, Healthcare, Language/Humanities, Science, or related disciplines (ii) demonstrated interest and/or experience in coursework development or clinical research (iii) strong communication and organisation skills (iv) the ability to work collaboratively and (v) proficiency in Chinese and English typing, computer applications and basic data analysis tools (e.g. Microsoft Office, Nvivo). Prior experience as a Research Assistant / Junior Research Assistant in clinical research settings is preferred. Those with less experience may be considered for appointment as Junior Research Assistant.
The appointee will work at the Hong Kong Children's Hospital and will be responsible for (a) coordinating the development and delineating the content of an ethical education course for medical students (b) conducting clinical research with patient interaction (involves subject recruitment, completing questionnaires and simple follow-up activities in clinics and hospital wards) (c) conducting data entry and management (d) research-related administrative work such as providing assistance in preparing ethics applications and progress reports and (e) performing other tasks as assigned. On-the-job training will be provided.
Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for one year commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to mutual agreement.
