Job is with OCS Division Engineering APAC Regional Engineering based in Asia to support all Optical Commercial Solutions (OCS) plants. Project assignment may involve travel percentage from 2550% between Taiwan, China, North America. Building strong process technical linkage with Division Engineering groups in North America, and Europe responsible for implement process improvement and new production introduction.
. Implement OCS CSC program to ensure processes which run to global standard and execute process optimization and improvement with Plant Engineering and OCS Division Process Engineering (T2 Engineer).
. Follow Innovation Process Platform (IPP) to execute new production introduction
- Engage new product development on mass production process optimization with OCS Technology Engineering (TE) and optimize process for mass production.
- Transfer product and process to Manufacturing with Plant Engineering
. Lead or participate in projects of process improvements to address quality and yield issues, reduce production cycle times with T2 Engineer and Plant Engineering through PEx Methodology.
. Author process improvement capability plans. Complete technical reports for internal publication.
. Visibly support the establishment and maintenance of a safe work environment.
. Identify gaps in plants manufacturing capabilities with Plant Engineering and make recommendations to improve. Execute those improvements.
. Report on project activities on a pre-determined basis. Ensure results meet the Corning OCS requirements and standards.
. Job requires occasional travel to Corning plants for process development for new products, new operation, and process improvement projects.
. Individual must be capable of executing project assignments with minimal supervision.
. Project involved with:
- Connectivity production: Adapter, Connector, Cable Assembly (CAB & PNP) and Module.
- Micro-Optic production: Wavelength Management, Variable Optical Attenuators, Micro-Optics Components, Transceiver Optics, and Fiber Array Unit.
Education & Experience:
. Optic, mechanical or Chemical/material related Bachelor or Master degree.
. 5+ years shop floor process engineering experience
. 3+ years international project experience involving new product development and new product development, prototyping, and optimization.
. 3+ years Project leading experience
Required Skills:
. Strong project management skills. Detail oriented and able to perform with limited supervision
. Good problems solving and analytical capabilities (particularly statistical analysis) through using DMIAC, KT, TRIZ…etc.
. Proactive, independent, flexible, quick learner
. Effective, high quality oral and written communication skills with English
. Excellent communications, interpersonal and influencing skills.
. High initiative, able to work with a minimum of direction, and able to work in team environment

Soft Skills:

. 6 sigma skill or project management.
. DMAIC GB Certification.
. PMP Certification would be a plus
. 3+ years working experience with CAD/CAM capability especially fixture design and improvement, or precision cutting/finishing capability.
. 3+ years experience with optic product and process tuning and optimization, such as polishing, epoxy dispensing/curing…etc.
. Knowledge of optical inspection process, such as insertion loss, core pitch…etc.
