Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience in mobile or consumer electronics manufacturing, with mechanical in-mold, coating, audio, wireless, and display consumer electronics.
- 2 years of experience in product quality development.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with mechanical drawing and PCBA schematics reading.
- Knowledge of statistical quality control such as six sigma, and with statistical analysis tools such as JMP, Minitab, R language.
- Knowledge of consumer hardware development and manufacturing processes, vendor relations and working with Contract Manufacturers (CMs).
- Understanding of technology, at the system and commodity level as well as software and usability.

As a Product Quality Engineer, you will evaluate the product designs and create the quality processes, tools and procedures to help improve the customer experience by improving product quality at our manufacturing site. You will work with Product Management, Product Design, System Engineering, Product Operations and Supply Chain teams to ensure the product represents the best of Google brand. Your work ensures the various pieces of Google's operations fit together while providing an excellent customer experience.
The Platforms and Devices team encompasses Google's various computing software platforms across environments (desktop, mobile, applications), as well as our first party devices and services that combine the best of Google AI, software, and hardware. Teams across this area research, design, and develop new technologies to make our user's interaction with computing faster and more seamless, building innovative experiences for our users around the world.
Responsibilities
- Manage factory quality issue escalation, issues Failure Analysis (FA), Root Cause and Corrective Action(RCCA) from First Article Inspection (FAI)/Outgoing Quality Control (OQC)/On-Going Reliability(ORT), Yield fall outs, Customer Complaints and Field failures, during NPI/Mass Production(MP) Phases.
- Coordinate with on site operation team members and suppliers to resolve emergency issues locally.
- Define or implement Phone Product Cosmetic Specifications and design Final Assembly, Test, and Pack-out (FATP) Quality Cosmetic Station Inspection Plan ensuring the specifications met.
- Participate in Design For Quality(DFQ) Review with Design or Manufacturing Partners, including Mechanical/Module Supplier Development Engineering(SDE). Identify production line factors critical to quality and establish production quality control procedures.
- Drive Design of Experiment (DOE), collect the Statistical Process Control data to enable evaluation/qualification/verification of cost effectiveness meeting overall manufacturing quality goals with cross functional team.
