Your key responsibilities:
Accountable for the timely execution of 1st Line of Defence (1LOD) controls for Private Banking.
Responsible for performing assessments relating to 1LOD controls and ensuring outcomes are appropriately documented and tracked.
Provide effective oversight of 1LOD control execution and ensure identified issues are escalated, remediated, and tracked through to closure.
Serve as the primary point of contact for 1LOD control matters across Hong Kong and Singapore.
Provide oversight of Risk Management team-related 1LOD controls across Hong Kong and Singapore, including churning reviews, market abuse reviews, cross-border reviews, and other relevant control activities.
Lead and oversee Risk Management team members across onshore locations in Hong Kong and Singapore, as well as the offshore team in India, ensuring risk-related projects, initiatives, and business-as-usual activities are delivered to a high standard and within agreed timelines.
Ensure the design and operating effectiveness of 1LOD controls owned or performed by the Risk Management team.
Liaise with key stakeholders, including the Relationship Centre, Operations, Vendor Back Office, Compliance, and DCO, on control-related projects and initiatives.
Coordinate internal and external audits, as well as regulatory enquiries, ensuring timely, accurate, and well-supported responses.
Lead control-related projects and initiatives assigned by the Chief Operating Officer(s).
Produce, review, and oversee Key Risk Indicator (KRI) reporting for Coverage staff.
Act as the escalation point for identified deviations or issues, assessing materiality and determining appropriate reporting, remediation, or escalation actions.
Chair risk-related governance forums and meetings, including CAC meetings and Market Head meetings.
Manage day-to-day enquiries from the Relationship Centre, providing timely guidance and support on risk and control matters.
Prepare and coordinate regulatory surveys and submissions to relevant regulatory authorities
Oversee the remediation of long-outstanding deficiencies in coordination with the Relationship Centre and relevant control owners.
Identify training needs and coordinate relevant training sessions for client-facing staff on 1st LOD control requirements.
Lead and provide strategic direction to the Risk Management Tools team, including the migration of risk tools to strategic platforms and modern technologies, with appropriate adoption of AI-enabled solutions.
Apply strong analytical skills to assess end-to-end processes, identify key risk areas, and determine applicable 1st LOD minimum control requirements.
Demonstrate sound knowledge of AI technologies and their pragmatic application within risk management and control processes.
Your skills and experience:
University degree with at least 10+ years of relevant experience in the Private Banking industry.
Strong knowledge of products and services offered within Private Banking.
Experience leading teams across multiple locations
Good understanding of risk and control frameworks, with experience in risk assessments and the design or definition of new 1LOD controls.
Quick learner, adaptable to change, and an effective team player.
Self-motivated, with the ability to manage and deliver time-bound activities and projects independently.
Willingness to learn and take on additional responsibilities with appropriate training.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
Demonstrated risk analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
Prior experience leading projects and driving execution across multiple stakeholders.
Good proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, with knowledge of building or maintaining intranet frameworks and SharePoint sites.
