Description and Requirements
Job Responsibilities:
- Responsible for operating system certification and validation of Lenovo server platforms across major operating systems such as Windows Server, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, and VMware, ensuring products meet OS vendor certification standards and support requirements.
- Execute and manage OS vendor-provided automated certification test suites during New Product Introduction (NPI) and Sustaining phases, including test environment setup, configuration planning, execution, and result analysis.
- Perform technical analysis and issue triage when certification or validation failures occur, identifying root causes and determining whether issues originate from system design, configuration, or OS-side limitations.
- Collaborate closely with internal R&D teams and external OS vendors to drive issue resolution and ensure certification readiness.
- Develop and maintain OS certification test plans and schedules, aligning certification activities with overall project milestones and delivery timelines.
- Provide technical guidance and coordination to outsourced execution teams (OE), ensuring test quality, progress, and outcomes meet certification requirements.
- Offer technical assessments and recommendations to Project Managers (PM/TPM) when certification risks, schedule impacts, or HCL (Hardware Compatibility List) scope decisions arise, supporting informed project decisions.
Job Requirements:
- Relevant experience in server systems, with a solid foundation in system-level concepts, and prior exposure to OS certification, validation, or closely related system validation work.
- Hands-on experience with at least one major server operating system (e.g., Windows Server or Red Hat Enterprise Linux), with working-level understanding of other common server OS environments.
- Strong problem analysis and troubleshooting skills at the operating system level, with the ability to work cross-functionally with R&D, project management, and external OS vendors.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in dynamic or uncertain environments, showing adaptability, logical thinking, and accountability beyond pure execution tasks.
- Exposure to GPU platforms, AI-related systems, ARM architecture, or kernel-level concepts is an advantage, but not mandatory.
- A strong sense of ownership, stability, and willingness to grow with the team over a mid- to long-term horizon (approximately 2-3 years).
