About the Role

We are seeking an Embedded Intelligence Analyst to support H&A's client, a multinational tech company. The successful candidate will monitor, translate, and analyze Mandarin language sources to produce timely assessments on China's domestic and foreign policy, including implications for foreign companies operating in the region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor Chinese language press, state and commercial media, and social media, and produce alerts and short updates as required.
  • Conduct research on priority topics from a China perspective, delivering concise written briefs for senior stakeholders.
  • Translate, summarize, and analyze news articles, publicly available party and government documents, and policy materials from Chinese to English.
  • Track developments across Northeast Asia, focusing on security dynamics in the Greater China region.
  • Provide research assistance and fulfil ad hoc requests to the client's intelligence and security team.
  • Maintain rigorous sourcing standards and document collection practices that support auditability and confidentiality.

Qualifications

  • Advanced professional fluency in Mandarin and English, with proven translation and summarisation skills.
  • At least five years of experience in academic or policy research, or equivalent analytical roles.
  • Demonstrated OSINT experience using Chinese social media platforms and ecosystems such as Weibo, WeChat, Baidu, Tieba, Bilibili, and official portals.
  • Strong research and analytical skills, including source discovery, evaluation, and synthesis into clear assessments.
  • In depth knowledge of China's political system, party state institutions, economic policy processes, and key stakeholders such as political parties, NGOs, and interest groups.

Nice To Have

  • Prior experience in corporate intelligence, security risk, journalism, or think tank research.
  • Familiarity with structured analytic techniques and workflow tools for collection management and alerting.
