Overview
Our client is a Singapore-based investment firm (family office) seeking a Head of Operations. The firm primarily invests in Japanese listed equities, while also allocating capital to domestic and global venture capital funds, as well as making direct investments in startups.
Beyond capital deployment, the firm places strong emphasis on creating sustainable value and addressing social challenges through active business support. It also plays an active role in supporting the overseas expansion of its portfolio companies. In private markets and venture investments, the firm focuses on sectors such as agri-tech, climate technology, education, and deep tech.
This position serves as a key partner to the principal, acting as an operational leader responsible for overseeing the firm's overall back-office functions. The role covers a wide scope including finance, accounting, investment operations, data analytics, office management, and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
Finance & Accounting
Manage cash flow, budgeting, and performance tracking
Oversee local tax matters (corporate tax and GST)
Liaise with external auditors
Investment Operations
Manage and report on investment portfolio performance
Reconcile securities and bank accounts
Consolidate and analyze investment performance data
Data Analytics & Reporting
Develop dashboards and reporting tools for management using Excel and BI tools
Analyze and visualize investment and business data
Office Administration & Compliance
Manage vendors, contracts, and payment processes
Ensure compliance with local regulatory requirements in Singapore
Improve and streamline operational processes
New Business Initiatives
Coordinate with research institutions and external partners
Support business expansion initiatives, particularly across Southeast Asia
Requirements
Minimum 3 years of experience in buy-side operations or corporate finance
Hands-on experience in accounting, finance, or investment back-office functions
Strong numerical analysis and data management skills (Excel)
Business-level proficiency in Japanese (to work closely with the principal)
Business-level proficiency in English (to liaise with external stakeholders)
Preferred Qualifications
CPA or CFA qualification
Experience with BI tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) or data analysis (Python, SQL)
