Job Description

Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions, Hardware Development organization is looking to staff a Technical Project Manager responsible for working with a cross-disciplinary team for new product development. This position will need to interact with cross-functional teams and executives. Excellent written and oral communication skills both up and down the organizational chain. Leadership is required. In addition, this position will need to interact with multiple ODM/OEM suppliers. The Technical Project Manager will need to drive suppliers to meet our committed project schedule, product cost and quality.

Specific responsibilities for this position include:

  • Develop and manage full-scale project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, risk assessments, and all associated project management deliverables necessary for successful execution.
  • Communicate project expectations clearly and promptly to team members and stakeholders, ensuring alignment and transparency throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Provide regular updates on project status to executive management, highlighting progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Lead the Development team, collaborating closely with engineers and the Product Test Lead (PTL), and being a Dev lead in internal program meetings to ensure technical perspectives are accurately conveyed and considered.
  • Clearly articulate and present key design considerations, defect status, and fix plans, and work closely with RD teams to ensure product quality meets defined requirements.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the project team and among stakeholders to maintain momentum and ensure successful delivery.
  • Continuously evaluate development and release processes, recommending and implementing improvements to enhance project execution and product quality.
  • Drive the sharing of best practices across the project management team to foster a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Basic Skills Required

  • Bachelor's or higher degree in Engineering or related discipline
  • Technical background in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field
  • 8+ yrs of project management experience in an engineering or hardware development environment from RFQ to life-cycle.
  • Experience in defining projects, gathering requirements, and coordinating efforts to scope, schedule, and release new product features.
  • Experience in defect management, presenting status updates, and collaborating with engineers to ensure design quality.
  • Experience in conducting cost-benefit analysis for new product/feature introductions.
  • Working Knowledge of Project Management Methodologies
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills both up and down the organizational chain
  • Fluent in English
  • Preferred Skill Desired-

    • PMP or equivalent certification
    • Experience with standard project management tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, JIRA
    • Experience working with diverse teams in multiple geographical areas
    • Detail-oriented
    • Self-starter, achieving great results with minimum supervision
    • History of meeting challenging objectives
