About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Legal Counsel in Taiwan with strong expertise in commercial, corporate, and regulatory law to provide proactive legal support, ensure compliance, and enable cross-functional business success; this individual contributor role also manages the legal function and oversees the work of external counsel.
What You'll Be Doing
- Provide legal advice on commercial, corporate, and regulatory matters, with a focus on Taiwan operations.
- Draft, review, and negotiate various commercial agreements, including sales, service, and distribution contracts.
- Ensure compliance with local laws and regulations, including competition, consumer protection, data privacy (PDPA), and environmental standards.
- Advise internal teams on legal risks, including HR, compliance, and data protection issues.
- Manage legal aspects of customer claims, complaints, and dealer-related matters.
- Support interactions with regulatory authorities and represent the company in legal and governmental matters.
- Oversee contract lifecycle management and maintain the Contract Management System.
- Coordinate with and manage external legal services effectively.
- Contribute to internal compliance and risk management policies from a legal perspective.
- Performing individual task-related duties in accordance with the knowledge and experience of the position holder.
- Advising other people holding positions at VGT, its cooperating organizations upon request and in consultation with the appropriate people responsible.
- Resolving antitrust related issues
Qualification and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in law
- Admission to the Taiwan Bar
- Above 10 years of post-qualification legal experience
- Industry experience in automotive, manufacturing, or consumer goods sectors is highly desirable
- Solid knowledge of Taiwan's commercial, contract, competition, consumer protection, and corporate laws
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders
- Collaborative team player who can work effectively across functions and regions
- Fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and English (written and spoken); capable of drafting and negotiating legal documents in both languages
