Job Description
Samba connects the advertising industry. Today, a trillion dollars of media flows through platforms that don't talk to each other, and each one measures its own results. We built the independent alternative: consented first-party data and AI that give the world's biggest advertisers, publishers, and platforms one clear view across all of it.
The next era of advertising will run on AI agents, and those agents will need data they can trust. We're building that foundation, and the agents that act on it. Join us and help build what the industry runs on.
About The Role
You join Samba's Taipei engineering team, building scalable web applications and services that power Samba's data and advertising products, from responsive React interfaces on TV devices to the back-end APIs behind them. It's a great fit for a mid-level engineer who wants to deepen full stack expertise in a data-driven, product-focused environment, on systems that reach audiences at global scale.
What You'll Do
Your personal information
We collect personal information directly from you when you apply. Where the law permits, we may also receive it from third parties, such as through background, employment, or reference checks. For details, see Samba's Applicant Privacy Policy. For EU residents, Samba Inc. is the data controller.
Use of AI in hiring
We may use AI tools to help review applications, analyze resumes, or assess responses. These tools support our recruiting team. People make every hiring decision. To learn more about how we process your data, please reach out.

What You'll Do
- Ship Web UIs: Develop and ship React web interfaces that run on Android TV and embedded Linux devices, designed for the living-room experience and remote-control navigation.
- Develop Backend Services: Build and integrate Node.js services and APIs that power those interfaces and connect them to Samba's data platform.
- Optimize for Constrained Devices: Tune front-end and service performance for TV hardware, including limited memory and CPU, older webview and browser engines, and D-pad navigation rather than touch or mouse.
- Debug Across the Stack: Investigate and resolve defects, performance bottlenecks, and integration issues spanning the web layer and the device it runs on, becoming proficient with debugging tools and log analysis.
- Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with the TV Platform and AI teams whose libraries and platforms your UI builds on, alongside design and product partners, to deliver cohesive features.
- Explore Intelligent Features: Help prototype and integrate new AI-powered features into the viewer experience as the product grows and the platform evolves.
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience, plus 3+ years of professional full stack or web application development.
- Proficiency in JavaScript, which is essential, with the Node.js ecosystem and solid React experience, writing code that runs reliably across browsers; TypeScript is a plus but not required.
- A strong grasp of building responsive, performant web applications: component architecture, state management, and the browser rendering and networking model.
- Familiarity with relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL) and optimized SQL, cloud infrastructure and deployment (AWS, GCP, or Azure), Git, and CI/CD pipelines.
- A hands-on builder with a bias for action and an analytical mindset, who uses logic and data to find root causes, communicates clearly, and is open to feedback.
- A plus: GraphQL or gRPC alongside REST, data streaming technologies (Kafka, Spark), scripting in Python, Go, or shell, and adtech, media technology, or data-heavy product experience.
- A plus: CI/CD tools such as Bitbucket Pipelines or ArgoCD, DevSecOps, GitOps, or AIOps methodologies, Docker and Kubernetes with minimal size and least privilege, and cybersecurity awareness including supply-chain attacks.
