Executive Officer I

The CUHK Business School is a leading business school and a pioneer in business education in Hong Kong. Since its establishment in Hong Kong in 1963, the CUHK Business School has gained world recognition of nurturing business leaders with immense contributions in the Asia Pacific. The School has been offering a comprehensive range of undergraduate and postgraduate programmes (DBA, MBA, MSc, MAcc, EMBA, PhD) with over 4,600 students from 20+ countries/regions, as well as executive education programmes. It has one of the most extensive alumni networks in the region, with over 45,000 alumni around the world.

The School of Hotel and Tourism Management, one of the academic units under the CUHK Business School, seeks to appoint a high-calibre candidate to the position of Executive Officer I, carrying the job title of School Secretary.

Reporting to the School Director, the appointee will be responsible for delivering comprehensive administrative support. Duties include (a) providing oversight for the School's resource planning, including budgeting, financial management, staffing, and the allocation of physical and operational resources (b) co-ordinating and supporting the planning, development, and enhancement of academic programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels (c) overseeing school-level initiatives and activities, including but not limited to large scale academic, professional, and industry engagement events, as well as impactful research activities (d) liaising with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen the School's visibility, partnerships, and overall impact (e) fostering a collaborative, supportive, and productive working environment for the Faculty and staff and (f) serving on committees and undertake other duties as assigned. Working at flexible hours will be required occasionally.

Applicants should have (i) a good Bachelor's degree (ii) fulfilled the English language requirements set out on the website: (iii) at least 8 years post-qualification executive experience, preferably in both the business and the tertiary education sectors (iv) excellent interpersonal skills, and an outstanding command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Putonghua and Cantonese) (v) strong organisational and planning skills, with the ability to manage and prioritise multiple tasks under tight deadlines while upholding high work standards (vi) a proven ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders (vii) strong management and organisational capabilities to work effectively with dynamic teams, and the ability to operate independently with minimal supervision, and (viii) high self-motivation, with the ability to contribute as a team member as well as a team leader.
