Job Description

Join Vestas Installation & Commissioning (I&C) organisation, where you will play a key role in delivering offshore wind projects safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards. As Head of PreInstallation Management, you will lead a global team overseeing the earlystage planning and execution that sets projects up for success. You will shape strategy, oversee concept development, and collaborate closely with stakeholders across Global Offshore. Installation & Commissioning (I&C) sits within Customer Project Execution (CPX) in Global Offshore and is responsible for ensuring all installation and commissioning activities are delivered safely, on time, on budget, and in full compliance with contractual and quality requirements. The function oversees the entire execution process from preparation through handover while owning stakeholder coordination, supplier management, site safety, and operational excellence.

The Preinstallation Project Management team, part of the I&C organisation, is responsible for planning, preparing, and executing the preinstallation phase of offshore projects.

Responsibilities

As the Director for PreInstallation Project Management, you will assume full responsibility for safety, project delivery, and quality at each PreInstallation site, promoting operational Excellence and consistent execution across the team.

  • Manage and oversee the PreInstallation Project Management department, including recruitment, talent development, and resource allocation
  • Oversee all global PreInstallation activities across concept development, sales support, and project execution, while managing subcontractor performance
  • Develop the execution strategy for PreInstallation activities on Vestas global offshore projects
  • Define and implement PreInstallation scope and processes within Global Offshore
  • Manage a team of approximately 10 Senior Project Managers and Project Managers
  • Champion development initiatives and improvement projects within the PreInstallation area
  • Ensure effective collaboration, alignment, and communication with key internal and external stakeholders, with a consistent focus on HSE and quality

Qualifications

  • A relevant university degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field
  • Commercially driven, with the ability to execute and interpret supplier contracts and understand contract mechanisms
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with experience guiding project teams and stakeholders across a global organisation
  • Extensive background in preinstallation and wind projects, combined with project management, commercial acumen, people leadership, and experience working in international environments
  • Solid understanding of Health, Safety & Quality (HSE/Q) standards and their application in project execution
  • PMP, IPMA, PRINCE2 or an equivalent project management certification would be an advantage
  • Solid IT proficiency, including MS Office and SAP

  • Readiness to travel globally

Additional Information

Primary work location: Aarhus, Hamburg, Taipei, Warrington, Warsaw

Expected travel: up to 60 travel days per year
