The Opportunity
We are seeking a visionary and strategic Director of Finance to serve as the financial steward of Capella Taipei. This is a critical leadership role that goes beyond traditional accounting. You will be a key business partner to the General Manager and the leadership team, providing insights that drive profitability, enhance guest value, and ensure the long-term financial health of our iconic property. You will lead a dedicated finance team in an environment where precision meets passion.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Act as the primary financial advisor to the General Manager and department heads.
- Develop and execute the hotel's annual budget, long-range financial plan, and forecasting models.
- Conduct thorough financial analysis, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations to optimize revenue, control costs, and improve overall performance.
- Evaluate capital expenditure proposals and investment opportunities.
Operational Excellence & Control:
- Oversee all accounting operations, including accounts payable/receivable, payroll, general ledger, and cash flow management.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with corporate standards and local regulations.
- Maintain a robust system of internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
- Lead the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
Team Development & Management:
- Recruit, mentor, and inspire a high-performing finance and accounting team.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement, professional development, and exceptional service within the department.
- Ensure the team provides efficient and supportive service to all other hotel departments.
Compliance & Risk Management:
- Ensure full compliance with all local tax laws, statutory requirements, and corporate policies.
- Manage relationships with banks, financial institutions, and external advisors.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks.
Qualifications & Experience
- A bachelor's or master's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration is required.
- Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive financial management experience, with at least 5 years in a Director-level or similar senior role within the luxury hospitality or hotel industry.
- In-depth knowledge of hotel operations, PMS systems, accounting software (Sun System), and financial reporting standards.
- Proven experience with budgeting, forecasting, financial modeling, and business intelligence tools.
- Strong leadership presence with a proven ability to build, motivate, and develop a team.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to present complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- High integrity, meticulous attention to detail, and a strategic, analytical mindset.
- Fluency in English and Mandarin is required.
