Job Description

Directs the Visual Brand and Design function, including teams of print, presentation, digital and animation designers, and the creation of innovative design concepts for all multi-media, online, and print materials, including marketing collateral, conference material, electronic deliverables, sales support, presentations and advertising, among others. Applies extensive industry experience to lead the determination of how to visually represent the company's key strategic initiatives and business goals. Responsible for leading the Visual Brand and Design team in providing day-to-day support of brand awareness, client acquisition, and client and employee engagement. Serves as a program and/or project lead and frequently assigns projects or program responsibilities to less experienced managers.Directs the development of innovative and effective conceptual designs and creative visual solutions to highly complex marketing challenges,, applies extensive experience and expertise to anticipate barriers and identify the most effective ways to communicate messages across multiple design mediums. Provides approval for proposed conceptual designs. May oversee and provide thought leadership to guide the team's implementation of approved conceptual designs.Provides thought leadership to steer strategic creative sessions for project kick-offs. Applies extensive experience, knowledge of best practices and expert communication abilities to express and present creative rationale to senior management and influence buy-in for creative ideas.Applies strong, long-standing, collaborative relationships with senior internal and external resources in order to drive the development and delivery of creative design concepts to support business activities. Applies expert interpersonal skills and expertise at interacting with a diverse internal client base to meet the needs of clients while influencing decision making into alignment with best practices and upholding brand standards. Applies extensive knowledge of industry/segment trends, market climates, and competitor activities, and leverages this knowledge to identify opportunities and recommend effective, competitive, cutting-edge design deliverables.Reviews and approves proposed project schedules. In partnership with senior management and other Marketing leaders, establishes the organizational branding framework and standards in alignment with the tone and vision of the organization. Enforces cross-functional alignment with organization's desired visual experience. Recruits, directs, motivates and develops less experienced managers, maximizing their individual contribution, their professional growth and their ability to function effectively with their colleagues as a team. Provides feedback at the most critical times.Directs the Visual Brand and Design function, including providing less experienced managers with coaching and management for the execution of marketing and/or communications projects and deliverables. Responsible for performance management for less experienced managers and for appropriately allocating resources to support the achievement of functional goals.Responsible for the achievement of functional goals and objectives, and the development, monitoring, and negotiation of functional budgets. Provides approval for team budgets.Modified based upon local regulations/requirements.Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience required. BA or BFA in Visual Arts or related field combined with visual design and project management or equivalent work experience preferred.12-15 years of total work experience, with 3-5 years of management experience, preferred. Experience in corporate visual brand design, creative strategy development and print, online and multi-media design, and art direction preferred. Experience in the securities or financial services industry preferred. The base salary for this position is expected to be between $127,000 and $230,000 per year at the commencement of employment. However, base salary if hired will be determined on an individualized basis, including as to experience and market location, and is only part of the BNY total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, discretionary bonuses, short and long-term incentive packages, and Company-sponsored benefit programs. This position is at-will and the Company reserves the right to modify base (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, change in geographic location, Company or individual department/team performance and market factors.
