Job Summary

The Customer Support Engineer (CSE) supports installation, commissioning, maintenance, troubleshooting, and optimization of inspection and metrology systems at customer fabs. The role requires strong technical expertise, customer-facing communication skills, and the ability to work independently to ensure high tool uptime, performance, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, configure, commission, calibration, qualification, and acceptance testing at customer sites.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, optical, pneumatic, and software issues.
  • Support tool upgrades, retrofits, and engineering change implementations.
  • Analyze system data and logs to drive root cause and corrective actions.
  • Provide on-site customer support and clear and concede technical communication regarding tool status, actions taken, and recommendations.
  • Prepare accurate service reports (tasks, parts, hours) in SAP
  • Collaborate with R&D, factory teams and as a good team player with regional team members
  • Support process optimization and yield improvement initiatives
  • Own and drive resolution of critical tool issues, including cross-functional escalation with R&D and customer support teams.
  • Drive tool availability and performance metrics in alignment with customer service agreement and business objectives.

Compliance & Safety

  • Follow fab PIP, safety, EHS, and cleanroom protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with company procedures and service agreements.
  • Maintain accurate records in SAP for audits and service history.

Travel & On-Call Support

  • Travel to customer sites as required, including domestic and international travel.
  • Provide on-call or after-hours support based on business needs.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience with inspection and metrology system.
  • Strong problem-solving, troubleshooting, and hands-on electromechanical skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a customer-facing fab environment.
  • Willingness to work in cleanroom and fab environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with inspection and metrology equipment.
  • Knowledge of semiconductor fab operations and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with MS-based OS, PLCs, robotics, motion control, or vision systems.
  • Strong documentation and reporting skills, and English proficiency.
