Key Responsibilities

  • Represent the Legal department as a member of the Taiwan Executive Leadership Team, assessing legal risks affecting AMT as well as advising and supporting the organization in mitigating risks.
  • Provide legal advice and counsel to AMT's country president, executives and other employees.
  • Identify emerging legal and regulatory risks and trends to proactively advise/influence strategic decision-making.
  • Serve as key point of contact to AMT leadership and management team for all AMT legal matters.
  • Partner with cross-functional colleagues to shape policy and regulatory framework and drive the continued analysis of laws to ensure alignment with compliance policies and procedures.
  • Provide day-to-day legal support to operations of various functions, including procurement, real estate, environmental health and safety, logistics & quality.
  • Manage and provide legal support for various commercial transactions, including hardware, software and service sales. Draft, review and negotiate various commercial contracts and documents.
  • Provide legal advice and prepare or review labor or HR related agreements or documents.
  • Support trade compliance matters as well as manage litigation, arbitration and other disputes, in collaboration with subject matter experts and cross-functional colleagues.
  • Provide guidance on intellectual property matters.
  • Manage and support subsidiary governance, establishment and consolidations.
  • Proactively and strategically manage outside counsel and legal expenses.
  • Establish and manage administrative processes in a timely and efficient manner. (Contract Lifecycle Management systems, approval databases, etc.)

Qualification

  • Highly adept at working effectively and collaboratively in a heavily matrixed organization.
  • Ability to partner closely with business clients to achieve results and resolve issues in a timely manner.
  • Able to communicate and present issues and proposals in a clear, concise and direct manner.
  • Strong emotional intelligence (EQ) with the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization and customer base.
  • Experienced and proficient at drafting & negotiating a wide variety of contracts and working with business teams to close deals.
  • Strong sense of teamwork, accountability, ownership and mentorship.
  • Excellent people and project management skills.
  • Passionate about making an impact through strategy, process improvement and change management.
  • Fluency in oral and written Chinese and English - including legal and business terms.
  • Can-do attitude, sense of humor and willingness to learn.

Education and Experience

  • Holds a bachelor or master degree in law from a recognized university JD degree will be preferred with Taiwan bar admission or US bar admission
  • Work experiences (15+ years) in multinational law firms / Top Taiwan Law firms / in-house legal departments of multinational corporations in High Tech. industry, semiconductor preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of Taiwan legal legislation, framework and practice.
  • Application of Taiwan legal skills in a multinational, in-house environment.
  • General experience in commercial contracts (including drafting, redlining and negotiating) litigation/arbitration, IP issues and management of business risks.

Travel: Occasional travel within Taiwan among offices in Hsin-Chu, Taoyuan, Taichung, Tainan and Kaohsiung and to Company's California head office
