Responsibilities
- Draft and review contracts, including internal legal templates, with a focus on sales, retail, distribution, e-commerce, licensing, marketing, in accordance with internal guidelines and policies in Japanese and English.
- Localization and implementation of Group's compliance programs and protocols.
- Organize and file contracts, court filings, and other legal documents.
- Coordinate and manage any potential litigation or regulatory action
- Conduct legal research and render legal advice regarding operational, commercial and general corporate matters under guidance.
- Support affiliates in the APAC region and overseas with contract reviews and other legal requirements as needed.
Skills/Requirements
- 47 years of post-qualification experience in an in-house legal department of a multinational corporation in Japan.
- Holding a Juris Doctor (J.D.) from a Japanese law school or a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) from a reputable university in Japan.
- Experience with a consumer brand, especially in the FMCD industry, is a plus.
- Attention to detail, self-motivator, self-starter and with strong business sense.
- Outstanding listening and communication skills; adept at communicating contract concepts and legal terminology and information, both verbally and in writing, to legal and non-legal audience.
- Effective analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Team orientation with strong integrity and professionalism.
- Interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with all levels of management and staff.
- Ability to remain poised under pressure; adaptability in changing/challenging situations.
- Open-minded, embracing culture differences and team spirit and yet able to work independently.
Others:
A license to practice laws (Bengoshi) in Japan is a plus.
Professional proficiency in Japanese and English is a must.
