We are seeking an experienced Commercial Manager - East Hemisphere to join us in Taiwan and help us shape our regional commercial strategy, oversee tendering and contractual negotiations, and protect the company's commercial position across our dynamic portfolio of offshore survey projects.
The Role
As Commercial Manager, you will oversee all tendering and contract activities across the region. You will ensure that bids are commercially robust, risks are clearly understood and managed, and contractual terms are negotiated in a way that protects margin while enabling successful project delivery.

What You'll Do
Commercial Leadership
- Lead and manage the regional commercial and tendering team, ensuring high-quality and compliant bid submissions.
- Drive consistent application of commercial procedures, governance frameworks, and delegated authority requirements.
- Strengthen commercial processes to improve efficiency, consistency, and risk management.
- Develop a high-performing team capable of delivering multiple complex tenders.
Commercial Risk Management
- Identify, evaluate, and manage commercial and contractual risks across bids and contracts.
- Assess financial exposure including liability, programme risk, and operational constraints.
- Implement mitigation strategies such as contractual amendments, pricing adjustments, exclusions, or insurance solutions.
- Maintain commercial risk registers and escalate material risks to the General Manager in line with governance requirements.
Tendering & Proposal Oversight
- Oversee preparation of technical and commercial proposals across the region.
- Ensure pricing reflects project risk profile, complexity, and margin targets.
- Challenge assumptions to protect profitability and ensure deliverability.
- Coordinate internal bid reviews with Sales, Operations, Finance, and QHSE.
Contract Negotiation
- Lead negotiations with clients, partners, and subcontractors on complex offshore survey contracts.
- Negotiate key commercial terms including liability, indemnities, limitation of liability, payment structures, variations, termination provisions, and dispute resolution.
- Ensure contractual terms remain within approved risk appetite or are escalated for approval.
Governance & Contract Award
- Manage internal bid and contract approval processes in line with company governance.
- Present commercial risk summaries and approval recommendations prior to contract execution.
- Ensure effective commercial handover to project and operational teams following award.
- Support post-project reviews to strengthen future commercial performance.
Stakeholder Management
- Represent the commercial function in client discussions and senior meetings.
- Support Business Development and Sales during pre-tender engagement.
- Liaise with subcontractors and strategic partners on contractual matters.
- Maintain alignment with the global contracts function to ensure consistency with corporate standards.
What You'll Need
We are looking for a strong commercial leader with our industry experience and a pragmatic approach to risk and negotiation. This role requires strong commercial leadership and the ability to translate operational risk into effective contractual and pricing strategies.
You will bring:
- Proven experience in commercial management within offshore survey, marine, or similar project-based industries
- Strong contract drafting and negotiation capability
- Advanced understanding of commercial risk allocation in offshore projects
- Experience negotiating complex service contracts including liability frameworks, indemnities, and payment structures
- Strong commercial judgement with the ability to balance risk, competitiveness, and profitability
- Experience managing commercial or tendering teams within structured governance environments
- Excellent stakeholder communication skills and confidence operating at senior internal and client levels
- Degree in Law, Engineering, Surveying, Business, or related discipline (legal training is advantageous)
- Fluent English, Mandarin is advantageous for candidates based in Taiwan.
