Clerical Assistant(s)

The Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences, working with more than 200 ophthalmologists and visual scientists in Hong Kong and Chinese Mainland, is committed to advancing patient services, research, training and education to the highest quality in all major areas of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences. We are also dedicated to worthwhile community programmes and public education projects. The Department, always in search of excellence, is looking for candidates to take up positions in our clinical and research (academic, community and translational) programmes involving ophthalmic investigations, public education, outreach, and ophthalmic studies on disease entities including children eye diseases, refractive errors, ocular surface diseases, dry eye disease, glaucoma, retinal diseases, thyroid eye diseases, autoimmune diseases, and ocular cancers. We are highly committed to supporting the career development of all staff members.

The appointee(s) will serve as Eye Care Assistant(s) and will be responsible for (a) providing assistance in ophthalmic consultations (b) conducting ophthalmic investigations, including checking non-contact eye pressure and conducting visual field tests (c) performing reception duties and answering enquiries (d) maintaining the operations of the eye clinic and (e) handling insurance forms and clinic administrative work. In-house training and eye care assistant training will be provided.

Applicants should have (i) completed secondary education (ii) fast and accurate word-processing skill (iii) a good service attitude and the ability to work independently (iv) basic computer applications skills (v) a basic command of English and Chinese (preferably including Putonghua) (vi) a detail-oriented, polite and positive work attitude (vii) an effective, intelligent, energetic, resourceful and forward-looking work attitude and (viii) personal integrity, sincerity, and teamwork.

Appointment will initially be made on contract basis for up to 2 years (with contract-end gratuity for a 2-year contract) commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.
