Job Description

The Urban Renewal Authority (URA) is tasked to undertake, encourage, promote and facilitate urban renewal of Hong Kong in accordance with the provisions of the Urban Renewal Authority Ordinance and the Urban Renewal Strategy published by the Government. The URA adopts a comprehensive and holistic approach by ways of its two core businesses i.e. redevelopment and rehabilitation, as well as preservation, revitalisation and retrofitting, for creating a sustainable and quality living environment for the people of Hong Kong.

The Support Service Centre for Minority Owners under Compulsory Sale (SMOCS), a subsidiary of the URA, has been established to provide support services to minority owners (Minority Owners) who may be affected by the compulsory sale order under the Land (Compulsory Sale for Redevelopment) Ordinance (Cap.545). The companyoperates as an independent entity, separate from the operation of the Authority. The operation of this company is conducted under the directions of the Development Bureau through its dedicated office (Dedicated Office), acting as the agent of the Dedicated Office to fulfil the policy directives in providing support services to Minority Owners.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Head of SMOCS in planning and implementing community engagement initiatives and programmes

  • Assist in overseeing the daily operation of SMOCS

  • Handle public enquiries, requests and complaints related to the cases in a timely and professional manner

  • Liaise and coordinate with Development Bureau and other government departments, members of Legislative Council and District Councils, professional bodies, district bodies and supporting parties to organize events and activities for the affected minority owners, the general public and interested owners

  • Collect, collate and analyse statistics, information, views, suggestions and feedback from stakeholders and interested parties

  • Assist in conducting service review and prepare progress reports

Requirements:

  • Degree holder in social work, business / public administration, communications, general practice surveying, law or related field

  • Minimum 6 years of relevant work experience with at least 2 years of experience at supervisor level preferably in community engagement / liaison, promotion, social support service and/or administration of services / programmes for groups

  • Registered Social Worker by the Hong Kong Social Workers Registration Board of Hong Kong

  • Experience in government or public organisations would be an advantage

  • Knowledge on Land (Compulsory Sale for Redevelopment) Ordinance (Cap. 545) or compulsory sale applications is preferable
