A leading specialty distribution organization in the specialty ingredients sector is seeking an experienced Business Unit Manager Food & Nutrition (FNN) to lead and grow its Taiwan operations.
This is a leadership role with full accountability for commercial performance, team leadership, principal management, and overall business unit profitability. The successful candidate will drive strategic growth, strengthen market positioning, and lead a high-performing commercial team in a competitive and evolving market.
Position Overview:
The Business Unit Manager will be responsible for the overall P&L, strategic direction, and operational leadership of the Food & Nutrition business in Taiwan. This role requires a strong balance of commercial acumen, people leadership, principal/supplier management, and customer engagement.
You will lead the development and execution of growth strategies, expand market share, build strategic partnerships, and ensure sustainable profitability while developing a capable and motivated team.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Business & P&L Leadership
- Own full P&L responsibility for the Food & Nutrition business unit.
- Develop and execute mid- to long-term strategic plans aligned with regional objectives.
- Drive revenue growth, margin expansion, and cost discipline.
- Monitor financial performance, forecasts, and budgets to ensure sustainable profitability.
2. Commercial Strategy & Market Expansion
- Formulate and implement sales and go-to-market strategies.
- Identify new growth segments, applications, and customer opportunities within Taiwan.
- Expand share of wallet within existing accounts while driving new customer acquisition.
- Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory developments.
3. Team Leadership & Organizational Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing sales and commercial team.
- Set clear performance expectations, KPIs, and development plans.
- Build a results-driven, accountable, and collaborative culture.
- Strengthen succession planning and talent development within the business unit.
4. Principal & Supplier Management
- Build and maintain strong strategic partnerships with international principals and suppliers.
- Drive alignment on portfolio strategy, growth targets, and joint business plans.
- Represent the Taiwan market effectively within regional and global discussions.
5. Key Account & Stakeholder Management
- Develop executive-level relationships with key customers and stakeholders.
- Support the team in complex negotiations and strategic opportunities.
- Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and long-term partnership growth.
6. Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with supply chain, finance, regulatory, marketing, and regional leadership to ensure operational excellence.
- Ensure smooth demand planning, inventory management, and portfolio positioning.
7. Governance & Reporting
- Provide accurate forecasting, pipeline visibility, and performance reporting to regional leadership.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, local regulations, and ethical standards.
Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 1215 years of commercial experience within the Food & Nutrition or specialty ingredients industry.
- Proven track record in business unit leadership or senior commercial management.
- Strong P&L management experience with demonstrated revenue and margin growth.
- Experience managing principals/suppliers and executing joint business plans.
- Solid understanding of the Taiwan Food & Nutrition market landscape.
- Demonstrated success in leading and developing high-performing teams.
- Strong negotiation, influencing, and stakeholder management skills.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Business, or related discipline; MBA is an advantage.
- Fluent in Mandarin and English.
