Associate Specialist, CAD Drafting

As an Associate Specialist, CAD Drafting with Disney Live Entertainment, you will be responsible for producing and maintaining accurate CAD drawings that support the design and delivery of audio, video, and lighting (AVL) systems for live shows and entertainment projects. In this mid-level role, you will work closely with Technical Directors (TDs) and Technical Managers (TMs), translating technical requirements into precise drawings while proactively identifying and resolving drafting challenges. Your work will directly support the seamless integration of creative vision with technical execution.

Responsibilities

• Produce detailed CAD drawings for AVL systems (schematics, layouts, sections, elevations) in alignment with Disney technical standards.

• Collaborate with TDs and TMs to understand project requirements and translate them into accurate documentation.

• Review and update CAD drawings, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and compliance with project specifications.

• Coordinate AVL drawings with other disciplines to identify and resolve potential conflicts.

• Attend meetings and site visits to verify drawing accuracy against field conditions and installation progress.

• Maintain organized CAD file structures, templates, and drawing libraries to ensure consistency across projects.

• Support the Technical Production team by recommending improvements to drafting processes and workflows.

Qualifications

• Higher Diploma or equivalent qualification in drafting, technical design, or a related field.

• Proficiency in AutoCAD.

• Solid understanding of audio, video, and lighting system drawings, including relevant symbols, terminology, and standards.

• Strong attention to detail with the ability to ensure technical accuracy and consistency across documents.

• Effective communication and collaboration skills to work with technical and creative stakeholders.

• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Experience

• 3-5 years of CAD drafting experience in live entertainment, theater, events, or related industries.

• Demonstrated ability to produce AVL-focused CAD drawings with minimal supervision.

• Knowledge of rigging layouts and coordination of AVL systems with structural drawings.

• Experience collaborating in a team environment and resolving design or drafting issues proactively.
