Global Markets is part of our HSBC Corporate and Institutional Banking division, a markets-led, financing-focused business that provides investment and financial solutions. Our Markets business is one of the largest of its kind in the world. It combines sophisticated 24-hour global coverage with a detailed knowledge of local markets. Our services are offered both online and offline in 58 countries and territories. We specialise in foreign exchange, credits and rates, structured derivatives, equities and debt, equity and equity-linked capital markets.

We are currently seeking a high calibre professional to join our team as an Associate Director, Market Access Trader.

Principal Responsibilities

In this role you will

  • Price and execute SBL manage locates/short coverage monitor and process recalls promptly with appropriate escalation

  • Actively price and manage exclusives/term structures to deepen supply, stability and utilisation Identify and scale new revenue streams (e.g., specials, term lending, cross currency optimisation)

  • Provide clear, timely market colour on borrow rates, specials and availability to Prime and related desks

  • Partner with regional trading teams and support functions to ensure timely, controlled execution and project delivery

  • Perform daily P&L production, variance analysis and sign off resolve exceptions within SLAs

  • Ensure accurate booking, amendments and returns deliver daily reporting (inventory, rate moves, recalls, revenue attribution)

  • Proactively streamline and automate workflows strengthen procedures and control frameworks

  • Deliver ad hoc initiatives and cross functional projects that enhance resilience and growth

Requirements

To be successful you will need

  • Degree in a relevant discipline (Finance, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics or similar)

  • Solid front office experience in Equity Finance/ Stock Loan & Borrow/Prime Brokerage trading with a proven track record in APAC markets

  • Demonstrated ability to price borrow/exclusives, manage recalls and inventory across multiple venues and currencies

  • Strong understanding of equity market microstructure, corporate actions, settlement cycles and regional market access requirements

  • Python, Advanced Excel and Bloomberg Strong numerical acumen, high attention to detail, clear written and verbal communication, effective prioritisation under pressure

  • SFC Type 1 (or ability to obtain if HK based) relevant local regulatory registrations (e.g., FCA/Securities & Derivatives) as applicable
