We are seeking an Assistant Manager/Manager to join our General Account Investments Asia (GAIA) COO team. This role requires a unique blend of business acumen and technical expertise to drive data-driven decision-making and optimize portfolio performance across global investment teams.
The GAIA COO team serves as the Asia representative of the General Account Chief Operating Officer organization. The team combines technical expertise with GA front office investment knowledge to address Asia-specific challenges related to technology, reporting, and data.
The GAIA COO team is responsible for overseeing the technology transformation from Excel/Access based end-user tools to modern platforms for investment analysis and decision-making in Asia. Depending on the technology being deployed, the team either directly delivers prototype solutions or acts as a communication bridge for GA Asia front office.
The GAIA COO team takes the lead in optimizing reporting and developing an Asia data strategy that satisfies country-specific requirements. Given the diversity and complexity of Asia markets, the team identifies unique reporting needs and leverages visualization tools such as Power BI to digitalize production and close any coverage gaps.
This role is accountable for providing technical & analytical expertise and effective task-oriental support for General Account Investments Asia. With such support, the front office teams remain focused on markets directly, while relying on the COO team for a holistic view of GA investment information.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with front office investment teams to identify business challenges and explore efficiency improvement opportunities via technology.
Review existing GA Asia reporting inventory. Build self-serve reports and analytic tools with Power Platform, SQL, Databricks and Python.
Collaborate with dedicated IT squads to deliver investment systems and functionalities.
Act as the contact point for ad-hoc inquiries and data requests.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, computer science or a related field.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in the financial service industry.
Hands-on experience in developing solutions individually to resolve business challenges is a must-have.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills to deal with multiple stakeholders from different backgrounds.
Highly developed computer skills using MS Excel, Visual Basic for Applications, Python, Power BI, SQL and VS Code. Experience with cloud-based information systems.
Preferred Qualifications:
A master's degree or CFA designation is a plus.
Demonstrated knowledge of fixed income and private asset investments in global markets and particularly Asia markets.
Experience in Investments / IT / ALM / Risk Management a definite asset.
