Assistant Computer Officer
The appointee will play a critical role in the development, implementation, and maintenance of surgical robotic systems, and will work closely with research teams to ensure the successful integration and operation of robotics technologies. Duties include (a) collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and understand the specific needs and requirements of different projects (b) designing, developing, and programming robotic systems to meet project objectives (c) monitoring and analysing robot performance data, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing necessary adjustments (d) providing technical expertise and support to internal and external stakeholders on robotics-related matters and (e) keeping up-to-date with advancements in robotics technology and identifying opportunities for innovation within the organisation.
Applicants should have (i) a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field (ii) proficiency in programming languages, such as C++/ Python/ Java/ and other related languages (iii) familiarity with various robotic hardware systems, sensors, and actuators (iv) the ability to work effectively both independently and in a team-oriented and collaborative environment (v) excellent problem-solving skills and attentiveness to detail and (vi) strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Appointment will initially be made on a 1-year contract commencing as soon as possible, renewable subject to good performance and mutual agreement.

The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is a public research university in Shatin, Hong Kong, formally established in 1963 by a charter granted by the Legislative Council of Hong Kong. It is the territory's second-oldest university and was founded as a federation of three existing colleges – Chung Chi College, New Asia College and United College – the oldest of which was founded in 1949.
