Role overview

The Area Manager is responsible for leading the business activity, securing profitable contracts and growing the Area. This role involves overseeing the commercial management including the financial performance of the Area, refining and delivering the commercial strategy for the Area, leading the local team within the Area, identifying and developing new revenue streams, partnerships, and market opportunities, and fostering and maintaining strong relationships with our customer and partner base.

Principal accountabilities

Customer Relationship Management:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients, fostering strong and enduring relationships.
  • Work closely with internal teams, including operations, engineering, and technician services, to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Ensure the opportunity and customer data in the CRM is accurate and up to date

Sales & Financial Performance:

  • Ownership of the Area's financial performance including revenue performance, sales prices and project margins.
  • Identify and pursue growth opportunities with both existing and potential customers.
  • Ensure compliance with the sales process, including cost analysis, pricing proposals, approvals and closing deals according to the company's sales processes.

Contract & Tender Management:

  • Oversee the negotiation, drafting, and execution of high-value contracts with clients, suppliers, and stakeholders ensuring compliance with contractual and regulatory obligations
  • Proactively identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks, including contractual disputes, regulatory changes, and market fluctuations.
  • Develop risk mitigation strategies to protect the company's financial and operational interests.

Strategic Planning & Market Insights:

  • Drive innovation in commercial strategies and business models to maintain a competitive edge.

Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor the local team within the Area, fostering a high-performing and collaborative culture, monitor progress and provide support where necessary.
  • Act as the primary management point of contact for local staff, including HSE concerns, HR & recruitment, performance management, personnel development, addressing complaints and training requirements.
  • Monitor and develop relationships with new and existing vendors and suppliers of services to Taiwan office.

Responsible Person Duties:

  • Liaise with company appointed chartered accountant (CPA) and other advisors in managing the statutory running of the branch office, ensuring compliance with local statutory obligations in relation to accounting, legal, tax compliance, secretarial, payroll and business formation, as applicable.
  • Perform all necessary due diligence in line with company's delegation of authority, prior to executing documentation, including and not limited to sales and procurement contracts, purchase orders, applications, memos etc.

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Achievement of revenue, profitability, and customer acquisition/growth targets for Area.
  • Expansion of services with existing customers and successful onboarding of new clients.
  • Increase of average contract size within the Area.
  • Timely and successful management of contracts, tenders, and customer relationships.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • 8+ years of experience in business management, commercial management, or business development. Experience in the wind industry is an advantage.
  • Proven ability to manage key accounts, deliver against sales targets, and develop new business opportunities.
  • Knowledge and understanding of Taiwanese labour laws.
  • Experience in the wind industry, renewable energy sector, or a related field is an advantage.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office and experience working with CRM/ERP systems.
  • Fluent in English and Chinese.

  • Leadership: Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and drive sales performance in a competitive environment.
