Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated and empathetic Youth Worker to join our team to support the implementation and coordination of Student with Additional Needs (SwANs) programmes under the UPLIFT initiative at a primary school in Jurong West.
You will work closely with the school's Student Management Team, Year Heads, Form Teachers, and School Counsellors to provide timely mentoring and social-emotional interventions for high-needs or vulnerable student populations.
Roles & Responsibilities
- Student Engagement & Mentoring: Build positive relationships and conduct regular socio-emotional check-ins with targeted primary school students facing attendance, behavioural, motivational, or family-related challenges.
- Programme Coordination: Support the planning, implementation, and execution of structured after-school intervention and engagement activities (e.g., BOOST-UP, RISE-UP, STEP-UP, and Homework Support Club).
- Attendance Tracking: Monitor student attendance patterns, conduct check-ins regarding absenteeism or school-refusal tendencies, and engage parents/caregivers to support consistent school attendance.
- After-School Support: Supervise and engage students meaningfully in the school's Care Hub, providing homework guidance and fostering positive routines.
- Documentation: Maintain detailed, confidential, and accurate records of student mentoring sessions, behavioural observations, and submit termly progress tracking reports.
Job Requirements
- Mandatory Experience: Minimum of two (2) years of direct experience working with at-risk or high-needs primary school children.
- Proven Capability: Demonstrated track record of engaging youths through diverse domain activities such as sports, arts, music, or enrichment to drive school connectedness.
- Preferred Qualifications: A degree or diploma from a recognized local institution in Psychology, Social Work, Counselling, Early Childhood Education, Youth Work, or a related discipline.
- Soft Skills: High levels of cultural sensitivity, professional conduct, empathy, and strong conflict management skills (SMC mediation accreditation is a distinct advantage).
- Commitment: Ability to adhere strictly to the deployment schedule from Tuesday to Thursday (11:00 AM - 5:00 PM) during school terms, alongside specified school holiday block sessions.
