About the Role

We are looking for a technically strong and analytically minded Web Analytics & Data Infrastructure Engineer to join our Business Operations - Data & Analytics team. This is a greenfield opportunity - you will be part of the the design, implementation, and ongoing management of our analytics tracking infrastructure from the ground up of our new brand TrendLife.

In the near term, the focus will be on establishing a robust and scalable GA4 and Google Tag Manager (GTM) implementation, including data layer architecture and server-side tagging. Over time, the role will expand into building and maintaining dashboards and reporting infrastructure, transforming raw analytics data into clear, actionable business insights for multiple stakeholder groups, including online sales, web content, etc.

You will initially work alongside an external agency engaged to support the foundational set-up, with the expectation that you will progressively take over full ownership of the infrastructure as it matures. The right candidate is someone who can collaborate effectively with an agency in the short term while positioning themselves to own and evolve the platform independently.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives on moving fast, is comfortable in ambiguity, and wants to build something meaningful - not just maintain it.

Key Responsibilities:

Analytics Infrastructure

  • Collaborate with an external agency during the initial build phase, providing technical oversight, knowledge transfer, and continuity planning
  • Design, implement, and maintain a scalable GA4 and GTM infrastructure, including data layer architecture, custom event schemas, and tag governance for both e-commerce and general web content properties
  • Develop and manage GTM containers for web and app properties, ensuring accurate, reliable, and well-documented tracking across all digital surfaces
  • Build and maintain server-side GTM (sGTM) configurations to improve data quality, performance, and privacy compliance
  • Conduct regular QA audits of tracking implementations to identify gaps, errors, and opportunities for improvement
  • Collaborate with marketing, ecommerce, and product teams to translate business measurement needs into technical tracking specifications, including implementation and maintenance of 3rd party tags for sales conversion tracking
  • Establish and document analytics data standards, naming conventions, and taxonomy frameworks
  • Use AI to redesign how analytics work gets done - building repeatable workflows, automating manual processes, and accelerating implementation and QA - while rigorously validating AI outputs and maintaining accuracy, privacy, governance, and human accountability

Data Infrastructure & Reporting

  • Design, develop, and maintain dashboards and reports in Looker Studio, connected to GA4, BigQuery, and other data sources
  • Work with stakeholders to define KPIs and translate them into clearly visualized, self-serve reporting solutions
  • Maintain data integrity and documentation across reporting layers
  • Leverage Databricks to support analytics data workflows as needed

Requirements:

Must-Have

  • 3-5 years of hands-on experience with GA4 and Google Tag Manager in a professional setting
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing data layers and custom event tracking at scale
  • Hands-on experience with server-side GTM (sGTM) - including container configuration, deployment, and ongoing management
  • Proficiency in JavaScript and/or Python for tag customization, data processing, and automation
  • Experience with BigQuery, including writing SQL queries for analytics use cases
  • Familiarity with Looker Studio (formerly Data Studio) for building dashboards and reports
  • Strong understanding of digital marketing measurement concepts (attribution, funnel analysis, conversion tracking, user journeys)
  • Excellent documentation habits and a structured approach to analytics governance
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders
  • An AI-native mindset - curiosity and ownership in using AI to improve speed and quality, comfort experimenting with new tools and workflows, and the discipline to validate outputs and uphold privacy, governance, and human accountability

Nice-to-Have

  • Experience with regional consent and tag management - including implementing opt-in vs. opt-out consent models across different regulatory environments (e.g., GDPR in the EU, CCPA in the US)
  • Familiarity with Google Consent Mode and consent management platform (CMP) integrations (e.g., OneTrust)
  • Familiarity with Google Cloud Platform services (Cloud Functions, Cloud Run , etc.)
  • Experience with ecommerce tracking (enhanced ecommerce, purchase funnels, cart events)
  • Exposure to A/B testing or experimentation platforms (e.g., Google Optimize, Optimizly)
  • Experience working within a cybersecurity, SaaS, or subscription-based digital business

What Success Looks Like

Within the first 90 days, you will be actively engaged with the agency on the foundational build, contributing to data layer design and tracking specifications, and beginning to take ownership of key configuration decisions. Within six months, you will have assumed full ownership of the GTM and GA4 infrastructure, established the first generation of executive-ready dashboards, and put in place a reliable, well-documented analytics foundation the business can depend on.
