Job Description

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Trade Lifecycle Oversight: Assume full ownership of end-to-end trade support and lifecycle management for a broad spectrum of products, including Equity and Equity Derivatives (cash equities, listed derivatives, swaps, repos, SBL, and structured notes) as well as FICC asset classes (Fixed Income, Rates, Credit, Commodities, FX, and exotic derivatives such as TARFs and accumulators).
  • Reconciliation & Control: Ensure the integrity of trade capture, allocation, confirmation, and settlement processes across global markets. Oversee daily reconciliations of cash, positions, and trades with external counterparties and custodians. Lead the timely investigation and resolution of breaks, fails, and exceptions, embedding root cause analysis and robust preventative controls.
  • Risk & Escalation Management: Serve as the primary escalation point for high-risk or complex operational incidents. Maintain a rigorous control framework, working closely with Front Office, Risk, Compliance, and Finance to identify and remediate control gaps.
  • Strategic Change & Technology Partnership: Collaborate with Technology and Change teams to define business requirements, participate in system upgrades, and lead User Acceptance Testing (UAT). Drive initiatives to enhance straight-through processing (STP), reduce manual intervention, and support the firm's new product and business expansion agendas.
  • Data Analytics & Reporting: Produce comprehensive MIS and KRI reports, leveraging trend analysis to support management decision-making and capacity planning. Act as a key liaison for regulatory reporting obligations (e.g., HKTR), audits, and internal/external assurance reviews.
  • Team Leadership: Provide strong people management and mentorship to a team of operations professionals. Foster a high-performance culture, offering coaching, performance feedback, and guidance on training and career progression.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in Middle Office, Trade Support, or Operations within a global investment bank or major securities firm.
  • Strong working knowledge of equity derivatives and financing products, alongside solid exposure to FICC asset classes (Rates, Credit, FX, Commodities). Experience with structured products and exotic derivatives is highly desirable.
  • Deep understanding of global trade lifecycle events, including collateral management, margining, settlement flows, and corporate action impacts. Familiarity with regulatory reporting regimes (e.g., HKTR) is essential.
  • Demonstrated experience at VP level in managing complex investigations, leading teams, and driving a strong risk and control culture. Proven ability to influence and partner with senior stakeholders across Front Office, Technology, Risk, and Finance.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities, with strong analytical skills and proficiency in Excel and other data tools. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex issues clearly and concisely.
  • Hands-on experience in process re-engineering, system implementation, and UAT, with a passion leveraging technology to drive efficiency.
