General Summary:
Qualcomm video group provides video solutions on all Qualcomm's Snapdragon processors. The team's scope includes the design, development and commercialization of video solutions, with power and performance optimization.
The Selected Candidate, Along With His/her Colleagues And Other Team Members, Will Have Responsibilities In One Or More Of The Following Areas:
- Architect, implement, and optimize end-to-end video processing pipelines on Android (capture → processing → encoding → playback).
- Develop and refine video algorithms including denoise, deblur, sharpen, HDR, tone mapping, scaling, stabilization, and color correction.
- Optimize real-time video performance under strict power, thermal, and memory constraints on mobile SoCs
- Optimize video compression engine and develop encoder features in an embedded firmware environment
- Analyze customer specific use cases and propose optimization to achieve best video quality
- 60%–80% workload for customer support; 20% onsite availability for business travel across APAC including China.
Minimum Qualifications
Overall, the candidate needs to be experienced in the areas of visual signal processing, video encoders and real-time embedded firmware/software development. More specifically, the selected candidate should:
- Good understanding of video processing pipeline such as HDR video recording and live streaming
- Good understanding of video standard such as AVC (H.264), HEVC (H.265), AV-1, VVC and quality evaluation metrics
- Deep understanding of video formats and pipelines (Bayer, RAW10/12/14, NV12, YUV420, RGB)
- Hands-on experience with Android multimedia stack (MediaCodec, Stagefright, Camera HAL).
- Video algorithms skills including scene analysis, motion estimation, block shape/mode decision and rate control
- Ability to independently debug complex, cross-layer video issues.
- Have good knowledge of real-time operating systems and data structures
- Familiarity with both objective and subjective video image quality assessment methodologies
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience using machine learning techniques for image and video analysis
- Experience with Snapdragon software flow and ISP is a plus
- Good understanding of video processing pipeline such as HDR video recording and live streaming
- Familiar with video HDR standards such as HDR10, HDR10+, HLG, and Dolby Vision.
- Good analytical, problem solving and written communication skills
- Familiarity with Android Kernel, V4L2, MIPI CSI, sensor drivers, or multimedia firmware.
- Experience with WebRTC or low-latency streaming systems.
- 3 years of experience in video encoder processing and is capable of independently completing video optimization tasks.

OR
PhD in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field.
