Thermal Engineer

Role

·     Design and validate cold plates, heatsinks, and thermosyphons. Work includes calculations, hardware design, lab testing, and handoff to manufacturing. Design cold plates, heatsinks, and thermosyphons for the target heat load, flow, orientation, and package constraints.

Responsibilities

·     Strong background in heat transfer, understanding two-phase flow and boiling/condensation.

·     Plan and run thermal tests: Instrument prototypes, collect heat flux, temperature, flow, and pressure data, analyze, and change the design based on the results.

·     Work with mechanical and manufacturing on fit, stack-up, joining method, and what can be built at volume.

Required

·     PhD / Master's in mechanical, thermal, or energy engineering, or a bachelor's plus equivalent project work.

·     Heat-transfer and fluid-mechanics background, with understanding of two-phase flow, boiling, or condensation.

·     Hands-on thermal test: sensors, data acquisition, power control, leak check, and basic uncertainty.

·     One CFD tool you can run without setup help (Flotherm, SolidWorks) and enough CAD to design a part or fixture.

·     Familiarity with cold-plate manufacturing: brazing, skiving, machining, additive, or equivalent.
